GAVIN CROMWELL: Looks ahead to his runners this weekend at Navan and Wolverhampton on Saturday and three runners at Thurles on Sunday.

We were very happy to see Wolf Prince win again last weekend. The race turned into a bit of a sprint which, might not have suited him, but he showed he had plenty of gears and he jumped brilliantly too. He’ll get an entry in both the Triumph and Fred Winter at Cheltenham, with the latter looking the more likely target at this stage.

Navan Saturday

Peaches And Cream gets things underway at Navan on Saturday in the rated novice hurdle (12.45pm). He won nicely the last day at Leopardstown and although the step back in trip might not be ideal, we’re hoping it won’t inconvenience him too much. There are only five runners and he’s more than worth his chance in the race, so hopefully he can go well.

Alfa Mix is progressing nicely and we’re looking forward to running him in the Grade B handicap hurdle (1.55pm). He won over course and distance the last day and being a five-year-old, you’d have to think natural progression would give him a leading chance here. He’s definitely going the right way and we’re hoping for a big run.

We’ll see how he goes on Saturday but Cheltenham is very much on the agenda. The Martin Pipe and Coral Cup are the two we’re looking at, though we won’t make a decision on that till much nearer the time.

Wolverhampton Sunday

We run Lappet in the selling handicap (1.25pm). She won a race at Musselburgh over the summer and is a decent filly but has just struggled to be competitive in Ireland. She’ll do a job for someone in England, so we’re hoping she runs well.

Thurles Sunday

Bajan Excell takes his chance in the handicap hurdle (2.10pm). He was brave the last day when winning at Limerick and this is his first handicap start against the older horses. He runs off a nice racing weight of 9st10lbs with his four-year-old allowance and if the ground gets a bit softer, he should be there or thereabouts.

Brex Drago goes in the handicap chase (3.50pm). He was running well the last day when unseating three out and is none the worse for that. He’s out quickly and hopefully he can run well again.

Our final runner is Western Run in the bumper (4.20pm). He has improved since his debut run at Sedgefield. It looks a pretty hot bumper with a couple looking live contenders on paper but he’s not without a chance and we’re hoping he can pick-up a bit of prize money.
