HURRICANE FINE AFTER EASY WIN. No racing in Ireland today but a couple of bets from Plumpton for Shamrock who reflects on Hurricane Run’s sensational win.

He drifted in the betting amid conflicting reports about his well-being but in the race itself the Hurricane couldn’t have been more impressive and surely the Cheltenham Crown is his for the taking again.

He’s come out of yesterday’s exertions well. Mullins said on Monday: “He’s fine this morning, which is great news. He really surprised me how well he did it yesterday. He was very quiet in the parade ring beforehand, but maybe he’s just maturing. He was very good in the race and I hope he can improve, but, having said that, if I can get him to Cheltenham in the same sort of form as he was yesterday I think I’d be happy enough. We have six weeks until Cheltenham and I’ll just train him as I see him between now and then.”

Hurricane Run was hovering around evens on the BETDAQ ante-post market on Monday and it’s hard at this stage to see what can trouble him, particularly as many of his old adversaries have gone chasing.

Irish-bred Firey King can make a winning start under rules in the 2.10 at Plumpton. Trained by Nicky Henderson the five-year-old won a point to point last year and hopefully the patience shown in getting him to the track will be rewarded.

Irish-bred runners dominate the closing bumper in which Tidal Dance can build on the promise of a course third place on debut.

SHAMROCK’S BETS:
NAP: Firey King (Plumpton 2.10)
NEXT BEST: Tidal Dance (Plumpton 4.20)
