DIVE IN FOR THE NEPTUNE NOW: Shamrock is taking 13.5 on Betdaq about a Cheltenham Festival hope which ran at Leopardstown yesterday, hoping to pay the stake with an Irish-trained raider at Wolverhampton this afternoon.

So many to cross off the list. I can’t see Quel Esprit as a Gold Cup horse, if his measure is Dessie Hughes’s Roberto Goldback, only 10th in the Ryanair and fourth in the Lexus.

Sorry Dessie, but we are used to Roberto being a benchmark for the nearly horses. And that would be 20lb and more below standard for the big prize at Cheltenham.

It means we also write off Bostons Angel – he’s had three chances now – though Magnanimity could bounce back; a mistake robbed him of his chance in yesterday’s Hennessy.

Sous Les Cieux finished the Deloitte as if the Cheltenham hill will suit his Neptune chance, and it’s hard to see Il Fenomeno, Cash And Go or Captain Conan playing any part at Cheltenham.

I traded some 13.5 on Betdaq this morning about Sous Les Cieux ante-post, hoping to get my stake back from a bet on Cri Na Mara (2.40 Wolverhampton).

Mark McNiff sends the gelding over the Irish Sea with better credentials than the class-6 sprint he tries there, and with Kieren Fallon booked.

SHAMROCK’S BETS
NAP: Cri Na Mara (2.40 Wolverhampton)
ANTE-POST: Sous Les Cieux (13.5 Neptune Novices Hurdle, Cheltenham Festival)
