PREVIEW
Goals from Ashley Young and Javier Hernandez after the break seven days ago leaves Manchester United in an excellent position to reach the quarter-finals of the Europa League. Sir Alex Ferguson has never won the competition before and his desire to do so was reflected in his strong starting XI in the first leg.
United have a game on Sunday against Norwich, which they didn’t have last week, so Sir Alex will likely rotate his squad as he holds a commanding advantage. Luis Nani, Tom Cleverly, Fabio and Phil Jones all returned last week leaving United’s squad looking far healthier than a few weeks ago.
Form and results at Old Trafford remain very strong for United and they have won five of their past six there. In the process United have bagged 18 goals.
Ajax had a few chances last week and they know they’ll need to score to have any chance of reaching the last eight. The Dutch side responded to last Thursday’s loss with a 4-1 win over NEC Nijmegen, but winning in Manchester looks a step too far.
Even if Sir Alex opts to rest players, United have been far too strong at home to suggest there’s an upset on the cards. An open game is expected with Ajax pushing for the win, so backing over 2.5 goals at 1.8 on BETDAQ is advisable.
RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back over 2.5 goals at around 1.8: 5 points
Wednesday’s Return: +0.00 points
