SHAMROCK’S AT DUNDALK: It’s Friday night so that means one thing – racing on the all-weather at Dundalk. An eight race card tonight gets underway at 6pm and SHAMROCK has a nap in the 6.30 race.
Just the one bet for me today after a lacklustre effort from the NAP on Thursday. Fortunately the next best selection on the day was a winner.
At Dundalk tonight the best bet on the card looks to be Zahr Alyasmeen in the 6.30.
We are going to get a price about her as Kanes Pass will be prominent in the market but I am against this filly.
She has had plenty of chances and given she struggled in the final furlong here last week in a six furlong contest I am far from convinced that the extra furlong here will bring about any improvement.
That’s why I prefer Zahr Alyasmeen who has more scope but does have a lengthy absence to overcome of 211 days.
The cheekpieces are on for the first time and we have to take a calculated risk that she will handle the surface but based on the evidence of a couple of turf starts last season she could easily outlcass her modest rivals here.
