IPL: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Saturday’s IPL game between Royal Challenge Bangalore v Mumbai Indians with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
Royal Challenge Bangalore v Mumbai Indians
MATCH OVERVIEW:
We have yet another double header at the Indian Premier League on Saturday! We have a cracking day ahead, although I am happy to focus on the second game today on BETDAQ Betting Exchange as Royal Challengers Bangalore take on Mumbai Indians. This is a blockbuster tie between two IPL giants, but the signs are there this season that Mumbai haven’t been at their best. On paper, their side definitely looks a little weaker this season and perhaps the guard is changing. CSK have also started the season slowly – usually Mumbai and CSK are the top two sides!
After three losses from their opening three games, we’re already at the stage where Mumbai need a win. They need the confidence and just basically need to turn things around. As I said before their last game, they have had slow starts before at the IPL but their side looks weaker on paper these days. They lack the stars to produce a big comeback. Royal Challengers Bangalore have also had plenty of changes this season with a new captain and a couple of changes. I still believe that they have a lot of issues with their batting, especially their middle order but you can’t knock the fact that they have at least four match winners in their side. The problem is, as it always had been for RCB, is that they need those stars to perform to win. Imagine the pressure every game? We’re all set for another cracker here though, and there’s a lot on the line this afternoon!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We’re back in Pune this afternoon and this will be the fourth game here. We only have 15 games at Pune this season with the rest of the tournament coming in Mumbai, so we better enjoy these games! Mumbai didn’t have a game to enjoy in the last fixture here as they lost to KKR. They posted 161/4 but it was chased down in 16 overs which really highlights the issues Mumbai have had with their bowling to be honest. In general the scoring has been pretty good here and I would expect similar conditions today. We’ve had scores of 210/6, 171/6 and 161/4 (chased in 16 overs) so expect the batters to be on top again.
RECOMMENDED BET:
I have to say I’m very happy to keep stakes low here. Although this should be a cracking game, we do have issues with both sides. The bowling looks weak on both sides, and while we have stars in the batting line-up for both sides – they need to fire. The question is who would you rather be on – Sharma and Pollard for Mumbai or du Plessis and Kohli for RCB? I’ve been really unimpressed with the Mumbai bowling, and given this ground looks good for the batters I can see the Mumbai bowlers really struggling again. I don’t have great faith in the RCB bowling, but it can come out on top today. The 1.85 is worth a small investment.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
There’s a few angles to look at for this game. I think with the easy chase from KKR in the last game here, the side who wins the toss will bowl first. I don’t really agree with that, and I feel batting first might offer a slight edge. However, there are times to be against the bowling and against the batters. We’ll just have to weigh up when is the best time! I really want to be against the Mumbai bowling, but you have to factor in that the RCB middle order does look a little weak. I feel the best time to take on the Mumbai bowling will be with the openers, and then see how it goes from there. Although I don’t fully rate the RCB bowling too, taking on the Mumbai middle order stands out as a value play here – they look very weak on paper and they just haven’t performed well enough. We should have plenty of swings in-running here.
