WEDNESDAY SERIE A and LA LIGA: The Ultra previews Wednesday’s games between JUVENTUS v INTER MILAN and ELCHE v ATLETICO MADRID including a recommended BETDAQ bet.
JUVENTUS V INTER MILAN
8pm We have a huge night of European football on BETDAQ Betting Exchange on Wednesday! It’s a busy week in La Liga and we have La Liga action later on, but we start the night with a massive Coppa Italia Final as Juventus meet Inter Milan. You couldn’t really ask for a bigger Final – perhaps a Milan Derby given the Serie A title race – but this is an absolute cracker! Juventus are going for back-to-back Coppa Italia’s after doing four in a row between 2014/15 and 2017/18, but there’s a real chance this could be their first year without a trophy since 2010. Juventus started the season very slowly this time around after losing Ronaldo during the transfer window, but they have gained momentum in the middle of the season and now they are certain on a top four finish, which did look like it wouldn’t happen at one stage. Inter Milan are still two points behind AC Milan at the top of the Serie A table, so while this is a welcome change they will be fully focused every league game too at the moment. I have to say of all the leagues in Europe this year, Italy has been the most interesting in my opinion. We have an excellent Cup Final here too of course! Inter Milan will start the tie as favourites at 2.42 but we do, as you would expect, have an open market.
When comparing the two sides the one major difference in their stats is going forward. In Serie A this season, they actually both have the same record at the back – they are conceding an average of 0.9 goals per game this season and their xG is the same at 1.1. Where the difference is massive is Inter Milan create an average xG of 2.3 per Serie A game this season while for Juventus that’s only 1.6. While 1.6 is an OK figure, it is a little small for a top four side and you can see why they have been called dull. Their Serie A games average a little under 2.5 goals too. Brozovic has been superb for Inter this season too, and I’m sure Juventus will have a plan to try and stop him. If you had to pick a winner I’d go for Inter – they have been the better side this season, but under 2.5 goals stands out here. We’ve saw unders land in the two league games between the sides this season and you would expect a very cagey Final here to begin with, before it opens up a little in the second half. Under 2.5 goals looks at least ten ticks too big at 1.8 and it’s a confident selection.

ELCHE V ATLETICO MADRID
8.30pm Next we move to La Liga to finish the day as Elche host Atletico Madrid. Elche have a nice buffer in the relegation battle as they head into the final two weekends in La Liga – with 39 points they can relax and enjoy their final three games which is a huge difference from last season! Elche won their final two games to stay up by just two points. It was a great weekend for Atletico Madrid last weekend as they beat Real Madrid 1-0 and Real Betis also lost to Barcelona. That put six points between the sides and probably put the top four question to bed. Atletico just need to win tonight and they can enjoy the last two games. If you were to look at the under lining figures this season, you would see that Elche have been a little lucky to be not heavily involved in the relegation battle – but you can forgive them a little bit of luck given what they went through last season! We have an interesting market here because Atletico clearly haven’t been at their best this season, and they went into the Real Madrid game in average form. They probably played the best game they have for a while against Real Madrid, and finished the game with an xG of 2.15. The major worry with Atletico for tonight is the away factor. They have been much better at home this season compared to away, and they actually drop out of the top five when you just look at away form.
They have lost their last two away games in La Liga, and they have put in two poor performances too. They finished with an xG of 0.71 against Athletic Bilbao and then just 0.64 away to Mallorca who are in the relegation battle. That has to be a worry, and would make you think twice about backing them at 1.71 tonight. Before you take on Atletico based on their away form, the Elche figures aren’t impressive. They created an xG of just 0.07 in their game at the weekend against Cadiz but in general their figures have been very poor. They have created figures of 0.07, 0.88, 0.95, 1.68, 1.15 and 0.67 in their last six games. When you look through Atletico’s form, you can see that they haven’t had many goals in their recent games and I think we’ll have a very cagey affair here. Elche aren’t good enough to create a host of chances against a side like Atletico, but given Atletico haven’t been creating a huge amount I can see them grinding out a 1-0 or 2-0 win. Under 2.5 goals looks over priced at 1.78 in my opinion.
