FA CUP: The Striker looks ahead to the FA Cup fourth round action on Sunday between BRIGHTON v LIVERPOOL and WREXHAM v SHEFFIELD UNITED both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
BRIGHTON V LIVERPOOL
1.30pm The FA Cup Fourth Round action continues on BETDAQ Betting Exchange on Sunday! We have two very interesting markets on Sunday afternoon, and we start with an all Premier League clash as Brighton host Liverpool. The market is clearly expecting Jurgen Klopp to make some changes to his Liverpool XI here, and we have an exceptionally open market. The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Brighton 2.66, Liverpool 2.56 and the draw is 3.9. There’s also the fact that Brighton have more points than Liverpool this season in the Premier League from the same number of games, and they hammered when 3-0 here recently too. Brighton have been playing some very good football this season – their average xG created is 1.8 which is very high, and that should see them challenge for a Europa Conference League spot if they can keep up that level. We all know about the issues Liverpool are having at the back this season, but they have managed to keep two clean sheets since losing 3-0 to Brighton here. They won 1-0 away to Wolves in their Third Round replay and then drew 0-0 with Chelsea last weekend in the Premier League.
Despite keeping a clean sheet against Chelsea, they still conceded a higher xG figure than they created, and they had home advantage too. Obviously there’s a huge amount of question marks around Liverpool at the moment, and from a betting point of view I can’t have them as favourites here. I know there isn’t much between the sides, and the market is very open, but I’m happy to lay Liverpool at 2.56. Brighton are an excellent attacking side, and Liverpool have been conceding sloppy goals for fun this season. What’s more worrying for Liverpool fans is they should be conceding more goals than they already have! Their average xG conceded is 1.7, but the average of the goals they actually have conceded is only 1.3. There’s no doubt they are brilliant going forward, but it’s hard to have confidence in them until they fix their issues at the back. We’re likely to see market movement on the team news here so I’ll be keeping stakes small, but I’m happy with the Liverpool lay.
The Striker Says:
One point lay (liability) Liverpool to beat Brighton at 2.56 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.

WREXHAM V SHEFFIELD UNITED
4.30pm We finish Sunday with Wrexham hosting Sheffield United, and it’s fixtures like this that make the FA Cup special! Most casual football fans will know Wrexham more because they are owned by Ryan Reynolds more so than their football achievement. The next series of “Welcome to Wrexham” is due to air later this year, and I’m sure this fixture will feature – their biggest FA Cup tie for years. In classic style, the club shop has run out of home jerseys to sell before this season. They have had 8,000 orders from the USA and Canada thanks to the TV show! It’s amazing the power of TV, and Wrexham are gaining success on the pitch too. They sit top of the National League at the moment, but let’s not get too carried away here – there is still a massive gulf in class between the sides. Sheffield United were a Premier League club in 2020/21, and they currently sit a clear second in the Championship so they will be a Premier League club again for the 2023/24 season. At the moment, they have a 13 point advantage over third place, so it pretty much looks like the top two are locked in for the Championship this season. As always with these ties, it’s actually hard to gauge what level Wrexham have been playing at – obviously they are having a good season as they sit top of the National League but that’s a pretty low level to be playing at. They’ll approach this tie with confidence, no doubt about that, but I can see Sheffield United outclassing them.
It’s hard to get away from Sheffield United here at 1.84. They are having an excellent season in the Championship, and as I said above they are clear in the Championship and almost certain of getting to the Premier League next season. We don’t have any xG figures on Wrexham of course at their level, but Sheffield United have been playing top football this season. Their average xG created is 1.7 while their average xG conceded is 1.1. They are very impressive stats, and given the gap Sheffield United have sitting in the top two they should be able to play a strong XI here. This is actually a fascinating fixture given all the buzz around Wrexham with the TV cameras, but from a purely football level point of view there should be too much class between the sides here, and I’m happy to take the 1.84 on the Sheffield United win.
The Striker Says:
Three points win Sheffield United to beat Wrexham at 1.84 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
