WORLD CUP GROUP B: The Ultra previews CANADA v QATAR with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
🏆 World Cup 2026 🏆
🇨🇦 Canada v Qatar 🇶🇦
11pm The Group B action continues on WORLD CUP 2026 Betdaq Betting Exchange! on Thursday night as Canada meet Qatar in Vancouver. After Matchday one left all four teams in Group B level on one point – Canada drawing 1-1 with Bosnia in Toronto, Qatar snatching a dramatic 94th-minute equaliser against Switzerland in San Francisco – matchday two now becomes massive. On paper, Qatar look the weakest side in this Group, and from that point of view Canada need to win. They meet Switzerland in their final match, and they cannot afford to go into that game without winning here. For Qatar, having robbed a point off Switzerland, another point here would be a brilliant result. Canada will have to make all the running here, and it’ll be interesting to see how much they can create.
It’s no surprise to see Canada come into the game as the red-hot favourites. They are trading 1.3 with Qatar 14.0 and the draw is 6.0 at the time of writing. Canada’s headline news going into this game is the fitness of Alphonso Davies. The Bayern Munich captain missed the Bosnia opener due to a hamstring injury suffered in the Champions League semi-final against PSG in May, but Jesse Marsch was optimistic ahead of the tournament that the Qatar and Switzerland games in Vancouver were a more realistic target for his return. We’ll just have to wait and see on that one. Even without him against Bosnia, Canada created good chances; it felt like they just didn’t have that killer edge though. Their xG was only 1.69, and granted it was double what they conceded – Switzerland created an xG close to 3.0 against Qatar.
Qatar are here on merit for the first time – unlike 2022 when they were hosts, they qualified through AFC competition – and Julen Lopetegui has brought some structure and organisation to a side that won just one game in the twelve months before this tournament. The squad leans heavily on players from the Qatar Stars League which means the step up in terms of quality is massive. However, if they can stop the Swiss – they can stop Canada. I wouldn’t be rushing to take the 1.3 on Canada – if anything that price looks a little short given their xG against Bosnia. It’s hard to see past them winning mind, I just feel the 1.3 offers no value.
WORLD CUP 2026 Betdaq Betting Exchange!
I’m happy to stay out of the match odds market here. Canada should win this comfortably if they perform anywhere near their level, and the potential return of Alphonso Davies would be a big boost too. Qatar will park the bus and make it difficult, and I feel they will offer very little going forward here. As I said above, another draw is a huge positive for them – especially facing the weaker side in their final matchday too. Under 2.5 goals is trading 2.14 but I much prefer Both Teams Not To Score at 1.62. I feel Canada will keep a clean sheet here; I’m just not quite sure how many they might score themselves.
