FINISHING TOUCH OF TWO MORE HITS Daqman has a phobia about losing, so he finished his fabulous January run with a touch of Jeanius, landing two winners out of three for the second day running on the last day of the month. These returns for yesterday top the list published on Tuesday:

January 31 profit: 13.55 points
WON 2-1 AUROPHOBIA
WON 6-4 DUBAI JEANIUS

FABULOUS JANUARY TOTAL OF 36 WINS That takes Daqman’s fabulous-January winners total to 36 with 17 days profit and 13 winning naps.

36 winners in 31 days
17 days with a profit

February launches a renewed search for value on BETDAQ. That’s where Daqman goes hunting and, as ever, he prepares the ground today and tomorrow with his big-race previews for the weekend.

GOLD CUP FORM AND RATINGS

⭕ 3.05 Leopardstown, Saturday (Irish Gold Cup) STATS: Just one winner aged 10 or over in the decade and that was a previous winner returning at the double.

TRAINERS: Willie Mullins 3, Gordon Elliott 2.

RATINGS (2013 first): 166, 154, 158, 160, 164, 152, 168, 169, 168, 157

175 GALOPIN DES CHAMPS One of four trained by Willie Mullins, odds on, 12lb or more clear of stablemates Franco De Port, Kemboy and Stattler. Six in a row, still standing, launched in Martin Pipe handicap hurdle at Cheltenham.

But he quickly established himself as top novice chaser at Leopardstown (twice), Fairyhouse and, after the break, his first senior Grade 1 with an impressive stroll home in the John Durkan from a dual Grade-1 winner.

163 STATTLER Unbeaten over fences last season, winning at Fairyhouse and Naas before taking the NH Chase at Cheltenham (3m 6f). Just pipped first run back when dropped back a mile at Tramore.

162 ANY SECOND NOW Won the Kim Muir at Cheltenham (2019); placed twice in the Grand National at Aintree; third off 152 in 2021 and second (159) last year after warm-up win in the Bobbyjo (3m 1.5f). Hurdles run for his return in December.

160 KEMBOY Savills Chase (2018); Aintree Bowl, Punchestown Gold Cup (2019); and this Irish Gold Cup (2021) off 168. Without a win in 12 starts since but Savills Chase second in December to last year’s Gold Cup winner, Conflated (Fury Road third).

158 FURY ROAD Placed in a string of decent chases, winning a Grade 1 here, but a long way behind Galopin Des Champs at this meeting a year back. See Kemboy and Franco De Port.

158 THE BIG DOG Not build on form of his Grand National Trial win at Punchestown (February 2021) until returned to form with Munster National and Troytown strikes and then third in the Welsh Grand National over Christmas, the sequence hiking him 18lb.

157 FRANCO DE PORT 16 chases and only two successes but reckoned better than the bare form by his yard. Thyestes runner-up and Auteuil Grand Steeplechase third last year.

Ran on well, fourth, behind Conflated (non-runner in this), Kemboy and Fury Road in the Savills over Christmas.

SCU AND TEXARD GO TOGETHER

⭕ 3.10 Leicester today For the second year running the chase course is ‘good’ for this meeting. That’s good news for Jacamar, Ballyhome, Texard and The Big Lense!

Moonlighter’s chase form is all on soft-heavy though, despite scoring the last day, he still has a low mark, 18lb below his winning form at Sandown two years back.

Family Business was a CD winner at this level and scored again dropped to class 4 at Fontwell in November, but will miss his long-time partner Lily Pinchin.

Go Steady has been in the first three 12 times out of 14 (won three) but has never won off this mark at this level.

The Big Lens has finished remote, or not at all, in his last six starts. Striking A Pose has yet to score outside novice company over hurdles or fences.

Ballyhome is also a maiden in senior chases. Uptown Lady makes her chasing debut after 679 days off.

Texard is the one for me; ex-French, still unexposed in England after six starts for David Pipe, including back-to–back good-ground success last summer.

Tom Scudamore’s form on him is 313, albeit the last day the combination ran below expectations when backed at 2-1.

David Pipe has had a good run since then and scored at Hereford on Monday. Tom Scudamore has ridden more than 700 winners for the stable.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 10 Texard

BROADWAY BOY CAN STEP UP

⭕ 3.55 Exeter A class-4 handicap hurdle split into two divisions, with all the old boys ballotted into this first leg.

The 14-year-old Jepeck’s sole success in four years was when he sprang a 40-1 surprise, allowed to dictate at Wincanton on heavy ground.

Samuel Jackson – he’s 11 – has scored twice since his novice days but both were in stamina tests over fences. Bob Mac (12) has won just once in more than three years.

The favourite, Broadway Boy (BETDAQ 3.3), is around half the age of the oldies I’ve mentioned and his form seems reliable.

He was second at Lingfield to a subsequent class-2 novice winner at Sandown, and the runner-up when he scored at Aintree in December, going away, was a well-backed winner, eased down, on the first day of the month.

Just A Dime was a debut CD winner here as a novice but has left the money behind twice since then.

Farmer’s Gamble has failed to cope with a few pounds extra – beaten favourite then second twice – since a class-5 win at Perth last April. Itacare is a similar case.

Aimee De Sivola is 1-14 since breaking her maiden. Lady Kk 0-8 since hers and her best form is over fences (though 0-5).

VARIAN IS DOUBLE VALUE: 6.0

⭕ 7.00 Kempton Last year’s heat of this London Mile series went to La Tihaty for Roger Varian who has Greatgadian in the race today, with a 5lb higher rating but with his 100 mark claimed off.

So you could say that all adds up to potentially a 10lb better situation and you could argue that the yard has been gifted again with the draw, stall 2 to last year’s one stall.

Greatgadian was placed twice over a mile at Ascot later in the season after beating the subsequent dual winner, Peter The Great, at Chelmsford (1m 2f).

Imperial Sands won a grade lower over the Kempton CD last month but had been last of seven, tailed off behind Peter The Great in the summer.

BETDAQ value It all adds up to Greatgadian at 6.0
