THE EDGE: Our cricket tipster The Edge previews Wednesday’s IPL clash between Chennai Super Kings v Rajasthan Royals with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have a fantastic clash at the IPL on Wednesday as Chennai Super Kings take on Rajasthan Royals on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. Everyone has already lost at least once at the IPL this season, a sign of how competitive the tournament has become, Rajasthan Royals and CSK are both well placed with two wins and a loss from their three games. CSK will be absolutely delighted with their start this season after finishing second last in 2022 but they also had the same amount of points as Mumbai in last – it was a terrible season for them!

After losing their opening game to Gujarat Titans, last year’s winners, they have bounced back well with two reasonably comfortable wins. Rajasthan started the tournament with a massive win against Sunrisers Hyderabad, then lost their second game against Punjab Kings – possibly getting too cute with their tactics. They opened with Ashwin and that was a flop – they learned from that and went back to their usual tactics to hammer Delhi Capitals then.

Both sides come into this game in a very good place to be honest. They are playing with confidence, I feel a lot will depend on the top order from both sides. CSK have a very solid batting line-up, and they have all chipped in so far. They haven’t even needed fireworks from Ben Stokes. You get the feeling with Rajasthan that they depend on Buttler a lot for a fast start – it was a massive difference when they moved Buttler to three for their only loss. Early wickets will decide the game in both innings!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

We’re back at Chennai and we had a very high scoring game here at the start of the month. CSK posted 217/7 and although they successfully defended it, Lucknow Super Giants scored 205/7 in reply. We might not see those high scores again, but I feel we’re more than a couple of games away from the slow and low nature of the Chennai wicket when it gets played on too much. Then we’ll see a lot of spin here, but for the time being I would expect another high scoring wicket. When the wicket is good for batting here and we get a heavy dew, we do see scores of 200+.

RECOMMENDED BET:

This should be a fascinating game, and there isn’t much between the sides. There isn’t much between them in the market either, but I do disagree with the odds. Rajasthan are marginal favourites at the moment, but I feel CSK offer good value at 2.04 given they have home advantage and their top-to-middle order has been very solid with the bat. They are all scoring, and there doesn’t seem to be many holes in that top six. Obviously Buttler can take the game away from CSK, but if his wicket goes early I feel Rajasthan will be in big trouble then. Both sides have decent bowling, but you’d expect the batters to win the day here given conditions.

The Edge Says:
One point win Chennai Super Kings to beat Rajasthan Royals at 2.04 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

Given we had such a high scoring game in the first game here, I would go into this game expecting runs again. I would just confirm the good batting conditions in the opening three overs, and then go from there. If conditions are as expected, you want to get on the batting side. Usually it pays to bat first here, but as we saw in the first game if we got a heavy dew it can be very difficult for the bowling side in the chase. I’d only look for trades on the batting side in both innings here, but I would give a slight edge to the side batting first.
