He was a 97 to start his season but has progressed 26lb from handicap to Listed to a Group-1 double of Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh and St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, scoring on soft , heavy and good (twice).
Three-year-old winners in the decade have been rated 110, 118, 120, 123 and, the exception, Golden Horn off 126.
However, Team Gosden has been leading trainer, with three wins in the last eight seasons, and Emily Upjohn is a formidable opponent, though 5lb behind the brilliant Enable who won for John Gosden in 2019.
122 DUBAI HONOUR Paddington has never raced beyond a mile and Dubai Honour is just a pound behind him on official ratings, with five-year-olds doing best of the older horses (four strikes in the decade).
The William Haggas gelding also started in handicaps until winning two Group-2 in France as a three-year-old before seven defeats until a double in Australia earlier this year. He’s won five times over 1m 2f.
122 LUXEMBOURG Dubai Honour was well beaten by Bay Bridge in the Champion Stakes last autumn but that one was pipped by Luxembourg in the Tattersalls Gold Cup (1m 2.5f) at the Curragh in May.
Luxembourg has won a Group 1 at two, three and four: the Futurity at Doncaster (soft), the Irish Champion Stakes (soft) and the Tattersalls race on good ground.
120 EMILY UPJOHN The British Champions Fillies And Mares of last October (good to soft) has raced just the once since then, returning to Epsom, where she had been a short-head behind Tuesday at the finish of the Oaks, after stumbling at the start.
She was impressive in holding the 2022 Derby third, Westover, to take the Coronation Cup (good to firm) over 1m 4f in only the sixth start (won four) of her career.
118 ANMAAT Owen Burrow’s five-year-old has been placed in all 12 starts (won seven), from a lowly class-3 handicap winner off 86 up through the grades by more than two stone to his Prix Dollar strike in the autumn on very soft (West Wind Blows third) and the Prix d’Ispahan on the last day.
111 WEST WIND BLOWS Stuck on his current mark with Grade-2 places in the Jockey Club Stakes and the Hardwicke, winning over 1m 2f when down a grade in between. See Anmaat.

⭕ 6.20 Epsom (Ladies’ Derby) Like any race with the word ‘National’ in the title, I am tempted to have a go at all those parading the name ‘Derby’.
Taryn Langley scored at Newbury three weeks back on Tessy Lad but only one winner in six has gone to an amateur claiming in the race.
Four-year-olds have drawn a blank in the decade and, as you expect at Epsom, course winners have the best record.
After taking today’s race under Serena Brotherton in 2021, Tralee Hills tried two-mile trips but was back to form the last day at Bath over 1m 6f.
The other rider in the race I would trust is Becky Smith but Ghadbbaan has a dismal strike rate (3-28) and was tailed off the last day. Winners of this have been weighted 10-3 to 10-9 five years out of seven.

ROCKING AT EPSOM TONIGHT!
⭕ 7.25 Epsom Wise words (1): If you want to bag the big surprises at Epsom, check out runners for the Epsom trainers. Wise words (2): You could do worse than follow Royal Ascot losers if they come out quickly and drop in class.
Take these two old adages – with a pinch of Epsom salts – and you are led to Rocking Ends, stabled locally and behind the last day in a big-field sprint at the royal meeting.
After the grey’s try at the Windsor Castle Stakes at Ascot last June, he won his very next race, so the omens are good. BETDAQ value 9.4.
⭕ 8.00 Epsom Three-year-olds have won in three of the last four years, and stalls 1 (once), 3 (twice) and 4 (twice) have scored five out of seven.
That’s two strong indicators for Woodstock, the only three-year-old in today’s field and drawn 3. BETDAQ value 6.4 this morning.
ALABAMA CAN CATCH GUNZBURG
⭕ TODAY’S NAP: Alabama (5.05 Tipperary). Punters are taking a chance, assuming that Gunzburg will show her true form only four days after being thrashed for a second time by Ballydoyle filly Matrika at the Curragh.
Gunzburg was given very little chance at 11-1 that day but is fast out of the gate. That’s why she is dropped back to the minimum trip today.
But Alabama produced the kind of run for Ballydoyle from a slow start that took the lead on the far side in the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot.
However, drawn 2, he stood no chance with the first four who were fortunate to beat a big field from stalls 19, 15, 16, 18.
