WIMBLEDON WOMEN’S FINAL: Match Point previews the Women’s Final between Marketa Vondrousova and Ons Jabeur with a recommended BETDAQ bet ….
Ladies’ Singles Final
M. Vondrousova (CZE) v O. Jabeur (TUN) 6
2pm Centre Court
It was certainly not an easy final to predict but we are guaranteed to see a new name on the famous trophy with Ons Jabeur bidding to go one better than last year.
This year 6th seed Jabeur needed three sets to get past Elena Rybakina in the quarter finals and also against Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-final when she fought back from losing the first set.
In contrast Marketa Vondrousova completely dominated her semi-final against Elina Svitolina winning 6-3 6-3.
The pair have met six times previously with the score equal at 3-3 but Jabeur won their only previous clash on grass in straight sets.
There’s plenty of news angles around today’s final. Jabeur would become the first African or Arab woman to win a Grand Slam singles title whilst Vondrousova would become the first unseeded player to lift the trophy.
The crowd, on what could well prove to be a blustery Centre Court, are likely to be behind Jabeur but that could well mount further pressure on her shoulders as she bids to erase the memories of last year’s defeat to Elena Rybakina.
Very hard to call but the BETDAQ market has swung too far in Jabeur’s favour for me leaving Vondrousova as an attractive bet at around 2.91.
RECOMMENDED BET
3.5 points win VONDROUSOVA to win at around 2.91
