BULL’S-EYE BETS TODAY: Daqman tilts at a big field at Newbury today with bull’s-eye bets. It was so near and yet so far yesterday with three placed in his three races: 3rd 6-1, 2nd 11-4, 2nd 9-2 (nap).

TOMORROW: Daqman Saturday special with his pick from the Curragh, Deauville, Newbury and Newmarket.

5.9 DESERT CROWN TEMPTING

🗓️ BETDAQ ante-post. Just half a dozen take on the short-priced FORTUNE COOKIE Paddington in next Wednesday’s Juddmonte International at York, with 5.9 offers Desert Crown most likely to attract support.

The Nunthorpe next Friday is seen as a match between Highfield Princess (2.66 offers) and Bradsell (3.95).

A FLYER FOR HAGGAS DOUBLE

⭕ 3.15 Newbury The grey Kingswood Flyer steps out of maiden company today with a lenient mark which gets him into a class-4 nursery for William Haggas and Tom Marquand. BETDAQ 3.95.

⭕ 4.45 Epsom The same stable has another ‘three runs and a hit’ possibility with a late starter, Turquoise Diamond, emerging from three novice events to her first handicap; half-sister to a Group-3 winner and still has potential for some black type, since she’s been racing only 10 months. BETDAQ 3.1

BERRIES RIPE TO BE PICKED

⭕ 3.45 Newbury (St Hughs Stakes, 2yo Listed) Beenham, whose stable won this last year at a big price, and Juniper Berries, 6th and 7th in the Newbury Super Sprint, are back on the same course for a thumping £22k compensation.

Juniper Berries, fourth in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot, ran best of the pair at Goodwood when second, denied a clear run, but still three lengths in front of Indispensable, with Beenham 6th.

‘Hidden horse’ of the race is the well-drawn Tears Of A Clown, not seen since winning a four-horse race at Windsor, but aimed at black type here after a 102-day break, first run for a new trainer, Henry Candy.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 6.0 Juniper Berries, 14 Tears Of A Clown, 21 Beenham

TARAWA WORTH A SUPERNAP

⭕ 5.20 Cork (Platinum Stakes) Favourites have won this seven times in nine seasons, including three for Dermot Weld, who fields a hot shot today.

Tarawa is very similar to his 2018 winner, Making Light: Group placed with best form on the soft, dropping to a Listed here.

But Tarawa’s 106 has a higher rating than any one of that Weld trio at this stage, has the same stall 2 that helped two of them score, and her form could be boosted by the fitting of a visor.

Ger Lyons took this last year with a handicapper and, on the following day’s Curragh card, won a 2yo Listed with Mauiewowie, who represents him in this Platinum Stakes today.

So it is that Weld and Lyons are creatures of habit – like all trainers – and it should ring a bell with you when you see them playing the card that trainers love: I’ve been this way before and know how it works and what level I need.

For the punter, it usually carries the message: these runners are strong triers; they are following a successful path.

GET KICK OUT OF DE BRUYNE

⭕ 5.45 Newmarket De Bruyne out injured until the New Year but likely to score tonight! The connection may be the sire, Dutch Art, but Kevin De Bruyne is from Ghent, so a Belgian national, though he speaks fluent Dutch.

De Bruyne, the horse, has traveled well in some decent handicaps and looks superior to Porfin, whose CD win over Epic Express two weeks back (Swiss Star behind) was his sole success in 20 starts. BETDAQ 4.1.

I thought Porfin was lucky that day, since Epic Express (15.0 today) was given a nervous start, having had to pass a stalls test to be allowed to run, and got behind in a slow-paced race.

⭕ 6.20 Newmarket One of the most eye-catching two-year-olds on breeding in a race the stable won last year.

Charlie Appleby’s Kingdom of Time, an 800,000-guinea yearling, is by Dubawi out of a Galileo mare who is sister to King George winner Highland Reel and Idaho, third in Harzand’s Derby. BETDAQ 3.95

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
