🇺🇸 BREEDERS CUP COUNTDOWN: First, Daqman checks out the form for the Breeders Cup Sprint
FOCUS ON BREEDERS CUP SPRINT
🇺🇸 11.25 Santa Anita, Saturday (Breeders Cup Turf Sprint, 5f) Wesley Ward, well known at Royal Ascot for his flying two-year-olds, relies on older sprinters at the weekend.
Twilight Gleaming is one of the reserves for this all-aged turf sprint and would have to take stall 16 if she gets in but still gives us a line to the American form.
She was runner-up in the Queen Mary at the royal meeting as a two-year-old, and won the Breeders Cup Juvenile Sprint at Del Mar (2021).
She was hampered at least twice in the Kings Stand on her return to Royal Ascot this year as a 20-1 outsider, fourth to Bradsell and Highfield Princess.
Bradsell (stall 2) and Live In The Dream (out of 5) are the likely favourites. Live In The Dream beat Highfield Princess and Bradsell in the Nunthorpe.
On that line to form, the mare Caravel (gate 3) could be best of the home team.
The 12-times winner made all in this race last year at Keeneland, with Highfield Princess nearly two lengths back in fourth.
Live In The Dream reappeared in the Woodford Stakes at Keeneland in October but was beaten more than three lengths, giving 4lb to the first three, which included the winner, Arzak, and Beer Can Man, third.
Ward has Playlist, top-rated in Friday’s 7.40 6f-plus fillies’ and mares’ Listed on turf, stepping up each time in a hat-trick (February to July) but beaten, second, in a Grade 2 at Kentucky Downs (6.5f) in September.
MYSTERY WHY HYSTERY IS 8.2
⭕ 1.10 Stratford A class-3 handicap chase over 2m 3.5f, this is a poor race for favourites (1-10) but Shakem Up’Arry won first out last season off the summer break and was not disgraced in graded races afterwards.
Trainer Ben Pauling has had a winner and four others placed from his last six runners to complete the course, noticeably with five of them all well backed, at around 4-1.
Nickle Back won his first chase with ease but was hit with a 10lb rise for the privilege!
El Muchacho has to start chasing from a high hurdles mark after punishment for back-to-back hurdles hits in January.
The value must be Hystery Bere, getting a stone from Shakem Up’arry who jumped well on his fencing debut in the Spring, and had a run back on the Flat two weeks back.
Betdaq Betting Exchange 3.35 Shakem Uparry, 8.2 Hystery Bere
⭕ 2.45 Wolverhampton Six CD winners in this in such a tight handicap that only 2lb separates nine runners.
That makes Karl Burke’s booking of a 7lb claimer a smart move. Brandon Willkie produced Digital well to score in a Classified at Kempton, a similar situation in that most of the field carried within a pound of each other.

⭕ 7.30 Chelmsford Lilkian was easy to back this morning, despite returning to form at Lingfield a week ago.
Punters are worried that few horses put two or more wins together at this level in sprints, particularly with a penalty.
Starsong burst back to form after a break over this CD at this time last year and is within a pound of his winning mark. Tasty 8.4 on BETDAQ this morning for this evening.
⭕ 8.30 Chelmsford James Fanshawe is in fine form and the grey filly Moogie is a stand-out here at BETDAQ 4.0 on her CD win last month when circling the field to score her second AW win out of three starts.
There were previous winners and future winners in the field but she has been raised only 4lb.
When Bold Ribb won at Lingfield, the runner-up, Measured Moments, had finished 10th, seven lengthd behind Moogie in the race she won here in early October.
