West Indies v England 3rd T20
MATCH OVERVIEW:
We’re back in St George’s for the 3rd T20 between West Indies and England on Saturday evening on Betdaq Betting Exchange. England come into this game under immense pressure having lost the opening two T20’s – that’s on top of having lost the ODI series too. So much for a white ball reboot. We can’t be too harsh on Jos Buttler given he is leading a very young side here, but the bowling just hasn’t been good enough or consistent enough to put West Indies under pressure on this tour. It must be difficult for Buttler, this really wasn’t needed after the disastrous World Cup.
Obviously Matthew Mott is under pressure as white ball coach. England played like a team with a problem in the dressing room at the World Cup. One wonders will he leave at the end of this tour – England go to India soon after Christmas but that’s for a five Test series which will run from January to March and Brendon McCullum will be in charge. Perhaps it will offer Jos Buttler a much needed break too – the T20 World Cup is fast approaching and England won’t play T20 cricket again until May against Pakistan leading into the World Cup in June.
From a West Indies point of view, they just have to keep playing solid cricket and wait for mistakes from England. That has worked so far, and their batting is firing against this average England bowling. A middle order collapse didn’t stop them from posting 176/7 on Thursday which put England under a lot of run rate pressure. They’ll be hoping for more of the same here.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
The 2nd and 3rd T20’s are at St George’s, so we should have pretty much the same conditions as Thursday. I noted in my preview of Thursday’s game that the last three International T20 scores were within one run of each other. 168/4, 167/6 and 167/8 – all won, and the side batting first won again on Thursday, but we increased the runs a little 176/7. I think we’ll see an edge again for the side batting first.
RECOMMENDED BET:
It took a while, four wins from five games, but West Indies are finally the favourites. We have landed two bets on the West Indies so far this T20 series, and I’m happy to take the 1.93 on them again here. England’s bowling just hasn’t been good enough, and like I said above West Indies just have to keep to a certain level and wait for the England mistakes. I would have West Indies shorter than 1.9 given what we’ve seen over the past week or two.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
Although I am keen on the West Indies to win again – they are just playing the better cricket so far in this series. I feel we’ll see a big edge for the side that bats first. The ground stats back in up, and West Indies managed to win from batting first on Thursday as well. I would be very confident if West Indies batted first again, and I would support England for a trade if they batted first – it will definitely give them the best platform, despite their lack of confidence at the moment.
