DAQMAN 332pts CLEAR OF PRICEWISE: Daqman left it late yesterday to land another daily winner, pass more than 332 points clear of Pricewise, and land a 26 points profit on the day to recommended stakes on all selections. Latenightpass was a Fortune Cookie.

WON 3-1 LATENIGHTPASS (Friday)
WON 11-10 HEROS (Thursday)
WON 5-2 INTERVENTION (Wednesday)
WON 11-4 SAVVY BRILLIANCE (Tuesday)
WON 8-13 JEUNE BELLE (Monday nap)

BIG-ODDS BIG–RACE PUNTS: It’s soft at Cheltenham but good jumping ground on a drying day. Doncaster is good to soft. Daqman breaks open the Christmas piggy bank for a final fling before the holiday meetings, taking BETDAQ offers of 11.0 (twice), 12.0, 18.5 and 45.0.

DECEMBER GOLD CUP DAY

Second Day at Cheltenham
DAQMAN 9, PRICEWISE 2 (+157.75 to -175.00 to 10pt level stakes)
NAPS: 105 up this year
🔺 FORTUNE COOKIES: 2.25 Malina Girl

⭕ 1.15 Cheltenham This 2m handicap chase is one that Jonjo O’Neill has sorted three times in nine seasons, with odds from 4-1 to 33-1 the winner.

Prince Escalus was fourth when Calico was runner-up over 2m on the old course a month back. He’s 5lb better off and has his ground on the new course today.

For one-time Champion Chase runner-up Finambule Sivola, it would have to be a huge weight-carrying performance off 12st (there’s a lot of it about on this second day!)

Betdaq Betting Exchange 8.7 Funambule Sivola, 11 Prince Escalus

FAKIR? NO HE’S TOP CLASS

⭕ 1.50 Cheltenham (December Gold Cup) FULL STATS PREVIEW on Thursday.

Not for the first time, an established chaser tries to give weight all round to rising stars: I see it as Fakir D’Oudairies versus Monmiral, apple of Paul Nicholls’ eye, and soft-ground lover Frero Banbou.

1: FAKIR D’OUDAIRIES Giving weight all round on his handicap debut, but to what? Not a lot with very much known on the ratings.

Fakir on the other hand has won his weight mark with super consistency, including seven wins and 10 times placed second or third over fences.

Won the Ascot Chase, Drinmore, Clonmel Oil and Melling Chase, second in the Arkle, the John Durkan and the Ryanair. Goes well fresh. BETDAQ 12.0.

2: MONMIRAL Gamble of the week after Harry Cobden switched from the same stable’s Il Ridoto. Grade-1 hurdler but has never won over fences and absent 245 days. Yet Paul Nicholls sees him ‘coming on tons’ and holds his hand up to persuading Harry to ride. BETDAQ 6.8.

3: FRERO BANBOU Runs for Venetia Williams instead of the same stable’s Easy As That, who switches to the 2.25.

Frero Banbou, who loves very soft ground, hasn’t won a race since January 22 but excels on the big tracks, third in both the Grand Annual at Cheltenham and the Grand Sefton at Aintree (Grand National fences).

CROMWELL’S FORTUNE COOKIE

⭕ 2.25 Cheltenham Protektorat is the one giving lumps of weight all round here but the trainer admits that switching the former Gold Cup third to handicaps is an experiment, after his recent flop at Haydock.

Venetia Williams, who has won this 3m 2f handicap chase twice in seven years, has swerved the December Gold Cup with Easy As That.

Just as she did with Heros on Thursday, sneaking one in at the bottom of the handicap, she has created an eye-opening, if not all that easy, task for him off 10st. 2lb here.

He was impressive at the turn of the year, graduating to Grade 3, but is down in class here and up in trip, as his pedigree recommends. Finished well against Stage Star over six furlongs shorter in the Autumn Gold Cup here.

Broadway Boy was no slouch over hurdles, winning a class-2 at Cheltenham, and he ran away with a novice chase over fences here the last day.

His sole chasing defeat was to Flooring Porter, trained by Gavin Cromwell who has a Fortune Cookie in Malina Girl at BETDAQ 7.7 this morning.

Cromwell, currently 3-5 (NH), scoring here yesterday, is pitching the Ulster National winner into this, despite a 10lb penalty for sprinting right away over further but on this same New course (City Chief 4th); and I did say ‘sprinting.’

DONCASTER: SUE SMITH DAY

⭕ 1.25 and 2.05 Doncaster Prairie Wolf here yesterday was Sue Smith’s fourth winner from six runners, still standing, at SPs of 12-1 or shorter (returns 112121 without the rank outsiders).

I shall be watching the market movements on her two runners today: Romeo Brown (1.25 at BETDAQ 11.0) and Cerendipity (2.05 at BETDAQ 6.7), putting them into play in my Daqman Bets as if one will win.

⭕ 2.40 Doncaster Langer Dan won second run back in 2021 and was second in the Martin Pipe.

In 2022, he bounced back from a 10-lengths last and a brought down to win the Aintree Hurdle, and at Cheltenham 2023 won the Coral Cup. He’s worth a bob each way at BETDAQ 45.0 to score on the rebound again.

A safer bet is Rare Edition, who has scored every time after a break, including last November at Doncaster.

Clear White Light is unbeaten at Doncaster (2-2); so, too, Tommys Oscar (2-2), who won this race when it was last run in 2021, giving away 20lb to the runner-up Geromino.

If Charlie Maggs can claim his full 10lb on Geromino, he will receive 36lb today! It’s surely a race to play from before the ‘off’ right to the line. BETDAQ 18.5.

WHISTLE UP A WINNER..

⭕ 3.15 Doncaster Whistleinthedark was doing just that when he tried to compete in the Autumn Gold Cup at Cheltenham in November on his first run back.

He won on Boxing Day last year and was then hiked a total of 31lb for going through the grades in a four-timer from class-4 novice to class-2 senior.

Whistleinthedark (BETDAQ 11.0) is up half a mile here but bred for even further on both sides of the pedigree, with a Welsh National winner on the dam’s side, where you’ll also find the fabulous Shotgun Willy; remember him?

Sail Away won the Scottish Champion Chase, and holds Forward Plan, but has more to do now. Twoshotsoftequila won over the CD has a novice.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
