MATCH OVERVIEW:
The T20 World Cup has arrived, and we have an excellent few weeks of cricket coming up on Betdaq Betting Exchange. While we don’t have a blockbuster start to the tournament as we begin with two associate nations, it’s going to be fascinating to see how tournament hosts USA get on against Canada. The reality is that you’d have to expect these two sides to exit at the first hurdle with India, Pakistan and Ireland in their Group but you never know. The USA have taken the approach of bringing in some familiar games from International cricket – Corey Anderson and Harmeet Singh recently lead a win over Bangladesh!
Obviously brining in players who have played for the likes of West Indies, New Zealand and India is going to raise a few eyebrows, but let’s be honest – this is nothing new in associate cricket. We often see tier two players switch sides. Before Ireland, in USA’s group, got full member statue their best players used to go and play for England. Eoin Morgan the most famous example! All eyes will be on the USA compared to Canada, and there will be some pressure – a lot of pressure in this game actually for the home side. Another fascinating angle will be how many people actually turn up. The ICC have spent a lot of money on cricket in the USA; the ticket process was heavily criticised but as always the proof is bums on seats when we start.
These two sides met very recently in Prairie View as prep for this tournament. It was a five game T20 series, and USA won four of the five games with the other washed out. That would suggest a gulf in class between the sides, but apart from one game when Canada were bowled out for 132 they didn’t do too badly. It’s going to be an interesting start, and an excellent tournament awaits as cricket hits America!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
I would definitely go into this game with an open mind on scoring. Dallas will host the first game, and while we have had warm-up games here it’s always hard to judge what is a par score based on that. Canada played a warm-up game here and posted 183/7 – scoring might be on the high side but at the same time we have two reasonably limited sides here who clearly aren’t as talented as the full member sides. We also had a game abandoned because of a storm here on Tuesday and the ICC had to rush to fix the damage to the stadium!
RECOMMENDED BET:
As this is the opening game of the tournament between two associate nations, this is a game to keep stakes small. USA come into the game as the favourites at 1.46 which isn’t a surprise given they won four of the five game series and the other one was a washout. Given that USA have drafted in some past major International stars, they definitely look stronger here. Obviously they face a different kind of pressure here – there’s usually about 50 people watching them after all – but I feel there’s value in their price at 1.46 given how far ahead of Canada they are.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
I would adopt a cautious approach to trading this game for two reasons – we usually wouldn’t have this many eyeballs and liquidity on a game involving two associate nations! Add that to the fact that we just don’t have much data ground here, it’s hard to know if it’s an edge to bat or bowl first. I would suggest supporting the USA batting – especially their middle order – will offer the best in-running trade on this game.
