Northern Superchargers v Southern Brave

MATCH OVERVIEW:

Northern Superchargers and Freddie Flintoff get a chance to bounce back after a humiliating defeat in their opening Hundred game. It was quite the 1.01 train on Betdaq Betting Exchange as the Superchargers conceded 185/5 and then found themselves 71/7 in reply. Most of the home crowd left early, and the UK cricket media had the knives out for Flintoff at the very start of this journey. Obviously the ECB would always look after Flintoff given what he did for England and what happened with Top Gear, but Northern Superchargers didn’t go through a usual coach process and obviously Flintoff doesn’t have much experience – it’s fair to ask questions.

He has managed to talk Ben Stokes back in the Hundred however, and the Sueprchargers badly need him. It will be interesting to see does he play here given the 3rd West Indies Test finished early on Sunday. Stokes smashed the fastest 50 for England in Test cricket too! They face a Southern Brave side who brushed off London Spirit quite easily in their opening game last week, however London Spirit lost again at the weekend and big questions have to be asked about their batting. Quite there’s a lot of pressure on the Superchargers, players coming back from the MLC, injury and Test squad will help them – they might not arrive in time for this one though!

Southern Brave have never had a blockbuster squad, but everyone knows their role very well within the side and they are former tournament Champions. Jofra Archer has definitely made their bowling stronger this season, and they must come into this one full of confidence.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Headingley is generally always a good place to bat; Trent Rockets put up 185/5 and although the game was very one sided that was just due to Northern Superchargers being poor. Last season we saw scores of 185/5 (won), 182/6 (won) and 158/7 (chased) from the three completed games. It has to be considered that the Superchargers were very poor last season too, finishing bottom of the table. Even that being said, scoring conditions should be good. Two of the last three T20 Blast games here this summer saw a score of 200+ however the game in between was all out for 107!

RECOMMENDED BET:

It’s hard to have much faith in Northern Superchargers. Bottom of the table last season, a squad revamp and then a terrible start with a new coach. Things can only get better, as they say. It’s no surprise to see Southern Brave as favourites here, and I feel they offer good value at 1.75. As I said above, I wouldn’t write off Northern Superchargers just yet, but for the time being I feel it’s a nice spot to be against them. Southern Brave started the tournament very well, and we landed a very confident bet on them against London Spirit – we won’t go quite with the same stakes, but they are worth backing at 1.75.

The Edge Says:
Two points win Southern Brave to beat Northern Superchargers at 1.75 on Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

The first thing to be aware of here is any changes to the Northern Superchargers starting XI. Nicholas Pooran arrived from the MLC overnight, didn’t even have a bat because they were still in transport but managed to start their first game. With the Test series finished, we could easily see Ben Stokes for example. That’s definitely an angle from a trading point of view, and keeping an eye on team news here will pay off. Aside from that, I’d be happy to support the side who bats first given the good batting conditions expected – obviously I’d have a lot more confidence if that was Southern Brave, but I’d expect a little edge for the side who bats first.
