England v Australia 5th ODI

MATCH OVERVIEW:

England have roared back in the ODI series after being 2-0 down, and now we have a series decider on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! The weather forecast is definitely looking dodgy for Bristol on Sunday, but it’s going to be touch-and-go whether they get a game in before the rain comes – due at around 4pm on the forecast at the time of writing. We had a series decider rained off in the T20 series, it would be a massive shame if we had another series decider rained off again! After looking down and out of this series, England have finally found some form led by some big middle order hitting.

It will be very interesting what the ECB decide to do with Jofra Archer here; heading into the 4th ODI it looked like he was being rested every second game, but he played and took two wickets going at an economy of just 4.71. As they manage his workload, and in possible wet conditions at times, it will be interesting to see does he play here because there’s less time between games. The England bowling blew the Aussie batting apart on Friday, that was the first time that the bowlers have really dominated an innings, but the batters piled the pressure on beforehand with 312/5 from 39 overs in a rain shortened game. Liam Livingstone was the finisher with 62 off just 27 balls with a massive seven sixes.

That’s no mean feat at a big ground like Lord’s too. His form has been superb over this tour – he was the shining light in the T20 series and he seems to have dragged the middle order into form with him. The England openers finally scored some runs too on Friday, and it seems they have all the momentum coming into the decider now.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

As I mentioned above, this is going to be a day of radar watching as well as the cricket. At the moment, we have a yellow weather warning for rainfall in Bristol but it comes into effect from 4pm. That’s going to be touch-and-go given the start time is 11am. It really all depends on how quickly the first innings is over; do they get bowled out or it is a long innings? Then the other question is whether the rain arrives before 4pm or is slightly delayed getting there. It’s definitely a radar watching day; you’d have to bowl first to be in more control in my opinion – you know the rain is coming in the second innings so the goal will be getting ahead of Duckworth Lewis as much as possible.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Given the situation with the weather, this is definitely a game for small stakes before the off. The toss is going to be very important you feel, and while chasing is a good option given the rain is coming late, that’s going to give difficult batting conditions before they get called off too. Both sides have been exceptional at times in this series, and given the likely weather conditions I see this being a 50/50 game to honest before the start. England are the outsiders at 2.1, so I’m happy with a small bet from a value point of view at those odds – I wouldn’t be surprised to see England start favourites if they won the toss for example.

One point win England to beat Australia at 2.1 with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

This is going to be a game where you watch the radar and based your in-running trades off that. We could easily see some violent market movement in the second innings depending on how close Duckworth Lewis is so be careful in those moments. Both sides have done really well with the bat over the course of this tour – England have all the momentum at the moment though especially in that middle order. To be honest, I wouldn’t be with or against either side batting/bowling here; this is a game to trade based on the weather situation.
