GREEN FOR GO: Good news that today’s meetings at Hamilton and Killarney both go ahead after morning inspections. LATEST: HAMILTON PASSES FURTHER 1pm INSPECTION
Hamilton and Killarney were both given the go-ahead after morning inspections.
At Hamilton, clerk of the course Hazel Peplinski announced the early-morning check due to the forecast of further rain overnight, but is pleased to report conditions remain raceable.
Peplinski said: “Thankfully everything is all right this morning. We had 4.9 millimetres of rain in a sharp shower last night, but we’re having a dry morning and the course is raceable.
“We’re due a dry day today and might even get some sunshine, so hopefully the forecast is correct.”
Killarney also got the thumbs up despite Wednesday’s meeting at the County Kerry track being abandoned due to waterlogging
There has been sufficient improvement for day two of their four-day meeting to go ahead.
Officials were due to check on conditions at 8am, but have been able to make a decision earlier than anticipated.
Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone said: “Today’s meeting goes ahead. They had a dry night and it’s generally meant to be dry for the next couple of days.
“The ground is heavy, soft to heavy in places.”
Newton Abbot on Saturday has been abandoned following an inspection today.
