DAQMAN’S YOUR MAN! 8-1 WINNER: Daqman landed a quick one-two with his first two betting races at Goodwood yesterday, an 8-1 winner and a split decision at 9-2.

WON 8-1 OMNI MAN
WON 9-2 (dd ht) TABITI

150-1 AND MORE SHOCKS LIKELY: Rain threatens to create upsets at Goodwood on the third day and nothing would surprise after yesterday’s 150-1 Sussex Stakes shock.

IT’S THAT GOODWOOD LAW

PACE! Punters calling for the Police And Criminal Evidence Act to apply at Goodwood yesterday should know that parties who stole the £600,000 Sussex Stakes prize admitted the ‘offence’ before the race.

Qirat was there for Juddmonte to ‘ensure a good pace’ for their hotpot, Field Of Gold, but would ‘run on his merits’, said trainer Ralph Beckett, ‘and isn’t going to stop!’

You can say that again. Qirat and jockey Richard Kingscote took the race apart and only Rosallion could get near them, the rest spreadeagled.

Odds-on Team Gosden favourite Field Of Gold, regarded until that moment as England’s champion this season, was still trying to find the gears under Ryan Moore.

Occasional showers loosened the racing surface, which exacerbated the old adage at Goodwood of how they’re not for catching if they can get away from you in the straight.

But to win a Group 1 at 150-1? Answer: a three-figure return was only for the second time in 50 years.

FORT GEORGE TERRITORY

⭕ 1.20 Goodwood (Kincsem Handicap) Seven winners in a row have come from single-figure stalls.

LAYS LOGIC: Outright favourites have a poor record (1-10) and nine winners out of 10 carried 9st 2lb or less.

I like Fort George (8), never out of the first three since his debut. A son of ace miler Territories who has got the flying machine Lazzat but who statistically has the best strike rate as a sire with his stayers.

Let’s hope for such speed and stamina in the mix at Goodwood today. BETDAQ 13.0.

Though High Degree (18) has been running in class 5 and his sole success has been over a mile he, too, is related to quality stayers on the dam’s side and a high stall may not be a disadvantage. Betdaq Betting Exchange 12.0

MERCHANT WORTH TRADE

⭕ 2.30 Goodwood (Gordon Stakes) Sir Dinadan is top rated but it’s based on defeat not winning form, and Merchant looks the goods!

Merchant sells himself with a 21lb rise in the ratings. His King George V success at Royal Ascot came at the expense of Serious Contender, who ran Lambourn to threeparts of a length in the Irish Derby.

Sir Dinadan was only fifth yet it gets him clear top rated off 112 today for the Qirat stable.

Galveston was third (Wimbledon Hawkeye fourth) at Royal Ascot in a Group 2, three lengths behind the unbeaten Amiloc but Sir Dinadan was beaten four lengths by Amiloc here at Goodwood in May.

Many Men, four-lengths third when Merchant won at York, also boosted the form when he won the Brown Jack Stakes at the King George meeting last week.

Merchant and Many Men were split at York by Rahieeb, who was giving 8lb to the winner and must have a chance of revenge today at levels. His rating gives him a 2lb edge if he can use it but those merchants called bookmakers couldn’t sell him at 10-1 when I checked.

GIVE CERCENE A WHIRL..

⭕ 3.05 Goodwood (Nassau Stakes) Three-year-olds are 7-3 up in the decade, Aidan O’Brien taking it with Minding (2016) and Team Gosden with Nashwa (2022).

Opera winner last summer, Running Lion might improve for the rain that’s forecast and See The Fire went down only a neck in this race last year.

But I fancy a match finish between the Tipperary three year olds, Whirl and Cercene, trained 18 kilometres apart (on the number 394 bus).

Only a neck down in the Epsom Oaks, Whirl (Aidan O’Brien) beat King George runner-up Kalpana in the Pretty Polly at the Curragh but was getting a lump of weight.

A tough Australia filly, Cercene (Joseph Murphy) surprised the French 1,000 Guineas winner, Zarigana, in the Coronation Stakes and could improve again for the extra two furlongs. BETDAQ 9.5

DAVID EGAN IS YOUR MAN

⭕ 3.45 Goodwood Low stalls win this but double-figure draws down the near-middle did best on the opening day, and it’s even more problematic with any rain.

I shall Getreadytorumble, a Goodwood CD winner in June and unlucky at Sandown the last day. BETDAQ 10.0 taken.

But The Man, a Group performer last season, has been modified and souped up like a fast car by gelding, wind ops and a hood!

David Egan in great form this season. Won the International at the King George meeting for The Man’s trainer, Richard Spencer. BETDAQ 13.0.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
