LA LIGA THURSDAY: The Ultra previews LEVANTE v SEVILLA with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
LEVANTE V SEVILLA
6pm Thursday Night Football on Betdaq Betting Exchange comes from La Liga this week. Levante host Sevilla in what can only be described as a six-pointer. Levante come into the clash sitting in the relegation zone while Sevilla are in 16th – five points separate them, but with just seven games remaining, Levante simply cannot afford to fall further behind. A win for Sevilla will see them have a nice cushion heading into the run-in, while for Levante this is absolutely a must win game to have any chance of staying up. Levante winger Kareem Tunde has already described the game as “a final”, and it is hard to disagree with him from a Levante point of view.
As you would expect, we have an open betting heat. Levante are the favourites at 2.6 with Sevilla 3.1 and the draw is 3.35 at the time of writing. Both sides have clearly been struggling this season as their place in the table suggests. There hasn’t been many positives for either side this season in terms of performance levels. Levante’s average xG created of 1.27 is the joint-fifth worst attacking figure in La Liga, but Sevilla are only marginally ahead of them by 0.01. At the back, Levante are really struggling – their average xG conceded of 1.77 is the worst defensive figure in La Liga. Sevilla have an average xG conceded of 1.26 is more respectable – eighth in the league – suggesting their defensive structure should keep them up, but yet again they’ve really struggled. The days of the top four are long gone unfortunately.
Levante are back in La Liga for the first time in three years, and on this evidence, they are in real danger of going straight back down. They simply have to win this game. Levante did beat Sevilla 3-0 away from home back in January, which will give the home side enormous confidence here. Sevilla are clearly better at the back, but they’ve hardly been creating enough to scare any side. Granted, Levante have been poor at the back. It’s actually no surprise we have an open betting heat here. Both sides come into the game off the back of a win in their last game – Sevilla obviously benefited immensely from Diego Simeone focusing his efforts on the Champions League and resting his Atletico Madrid side. Levante, meanwhile, beat Getafe 1-0 last time out, a gutsy and vital win that showed they have the character to fight.
It’s hard to have a very strong opinion on the match odds here. Levante are unbeaten in their last four home La Liga games, winning three of those, so they are rightfully favourites in my opinion. Sevilla also come into this game severely depleted with injuries and suspensions – I wouldn’t be rushing to lay the 2.6 on Levante. I wouldn’t be surprised if we had a very cagey game here and Under 2.5 goals looks a good value play at 1.78 in what should be a really tight game.
The Ultra Says:
Two points win Under 2.5 goals at 1.78 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
