CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TUESDAY: The Ultra previews the semi-final between PSG v BAYERN MUNICH with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
PSG V BAYERN MUNICH
8pm The Champions League Semi-Finals are here, and we have a blockbuster week ahead on Betdaq Betting Exchange! We kick the week off with a clash between two European giants as PSG host Bayern Munich at the Parc des Princes. Many are already calling this the final before the final, but that’s a bit harsh on Atletico Madrid and Arsenal! This is a superb clash though; the reigning Champions League holders against the Bundesliga powerhouse who have arguably been the best side in the world this season. It should be a cracker.
Given the quality both sides have, we have a reasonably open market. PSG are the favourites with home advantage at 2.4 with Bayern Munich 2.88 and the draw is 4.0 at the time of writing. PSG marched into the Semi-Finals with a dominant 4-0 aggregate win over Liverpool in the Quarter-Finals, and they look every inch the defending champions. Bayern gave us one of the most entertaining ties ever against Real Madrid – it was packed with drama to win 6-4 on aggregate. The only dampener is that Kompany will serve a touchline suspension for the first leg after collecting his third yellow card of the competition against Real Madrid.
As you would expect given the gulf in class between the sides and everyone else in their domestic leagues, they top Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga. Bayern already have the Bundesliga won while PSG are six points clear in Ligue 1. Kompany was able to rest a lot of his players at the weekend – until half-time that is because they found themselves 3-0 down again Mainz before making a few changes to win 4-3! Never a dull moment with Bayern! No surprise that their average xG created of 2.30 is the best attacking figure in the Bundesliga, and their average xG conceded of 1.10 is also the best defensive figure in Germany. PSG also have exceptionally good domestic figures – their average xG created of 2.11 is the best attacking figure in Ligue 1 by a distance, and their average xG conceded of just 0.94 is comfortably the best defensive figure in France too.
You could argue that neither side are tested week-to-week domestically, but obviously we know how good both sides are. Both sides were able to rest players at the weekend too, so they should come into the tie in perfect shape. Most sides would come into a first leg with a view of just getting a result and heading back to have the second tie at home – I know Arsenal will be doing that on Wednesday anyway – but I don’t see that being the approach Bayern take here. It’s just not in their nature, and they managed a win away to Real Madrid in the first leg of the Quarter-Final too. This is an incredibly difficult match to call, and I have enormous respect for both sides. Home advantage is real at the Parc des Princes, but the 2.4 doesn’t jump off the page. I’m happy to stay out of the match odds market.
This has all the ingredients for an open, end-to-end European night filled with drama. Both sides possess the quality to hurt the other, and neither will be content to simply sit and defend – I just can’t see this being a usual cagey first leg. I think we’ll have a very entertaining game. The market is expecting goals too with Over 2.5 goals trading 1.41 and Both Teams To Score is one tick lower at 1.4. I couldn’t put anyone off either bet to be honest, but I fully expect goals here and I’m happy to back Over 3.5 goals at 2.02 which looks cracking value.
The Ultra Says:
Three points win Over 2.5 goals at 2.02 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
