It goes without saying that this is a must win game for both sides, but after seeing how the two sides performed on matchday one, Czechia really need to win this one. South Africa looked very poor, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them lose all three games to be honest. A loss for Czechia and they’re essentially out – they would then face Mexico in their final Group game needing a win, with the Czechs likely needing goal difference to be in their favour too. It has been a 20-year wait for a World Cup appearance, which adds enormous pressure. South Africa are there for the taking though.
Sphephelo Sithole and Themba Zwane are both suspended after receiving straight red cards against Mexico, which is a massive blow. Sithole was at fault for Mexico’s opening goal granted, but he’s still a big loss. Obviously the red cards were a huge factor, but they barely got out of their own half in the second period. Czechia are fairly limited – a lot of football fans believe that they are lucky to be at the World Cup after coming through the UEFA playoffs against Ireland – the general opinion is Ireland threw away an excellent position. They aren’t exactly a side that you can have a lot of confidence in, it certainly feels like a game for small stakes here.

South Africa looked so average in their opening game, it’s hard to get away from Czechia here at 1.82. They are the better organised side, they have more quality across the pitch, and they have a genuine match winner in Schick. Having shown so little going forward against Mexico, I feel South Africa are going to struggle to find a goal here. Another option has to be Under 2.5 goals at 1.85 along with Both Teams Not To Score at 1.93. However, I do feel the best option is the Czechia win at 1.82 for small stakes.
