🏆 World Cup 2026 🏆

🇫🇷 France v Iraq 🇮🇶

10pm Group I continues on Monday night as France take on Iraq in Philadelphia on WORLD CUP 2026 Betdaq Betting Exchange! . France made the perfect start to their tournament, and with Spain stumbling on Matchday One, Les Bleus now sit as the sole favourites to lift the trophy in July. Iraq, by contrast, got hammered 4-1 by Norway, and it’s fair to say that most football fans will be expecting a very smooth win for France here. We have had some shocks already, but we have yet another red-hot favourite. France are trading as short as 1.12 with Iraq 34.0 and the draw is 12.0 at the time of writing.

It wasn’t entirely straightforward for France against Senegal, with Deschamps admitting afterwards he was disappointed by a first half in which his side mustered just a single shot. But Kylian Mbappe took over in the second half, and once they scored in the 66th minute they were always in control. Those two goals took Mbappe past Olivier Giroud as France’s all-time leading scorer with 58, and left him just two behind Miroslav Klose’s World Cup record of 16, level with Messi after the Argentine’s own hat-trick on the same day. In terms of starts, it couldn’t have gone better for France or Mbappe – especially given he arrived at this World Cup off the back of a torrid end to the season at Real Madrid, with an online “Mbappe Out” petition gathering plenty of signatures.

Reports of dressing room tension swirling around the Bernabeu, you did wonder would his French teammates rally behind him or would there be trouble. Unfortunately for Mbappe given the success of PSG since he left, he is getting the tag of trouble in the dressing room. From a Mbappe point of view though, he comes into this World Cup with a point of prove – and that usually means he produces his best football. Iraq were always going to be up against it in this Group; you would have expected Norway to win, and now France are expected to beat them as well. From an Iraq point of view; they might have to wait until the final Group game against Senegal to try get one of those eight best third-placed spots to get through.

It’s very hard to see past France here, and I feel this one is going to be about how many goals can France score rather than will they actually win. At 1.12, obviously we’ll have to look around the side markets for some value though. Iraq created enough to suggest they won’t simply roll over, but the face one of the best sides in the world here. Deschamps could well freshen up his side with the Norway game to come on the final matchday, but even a rotated France team should have more than enough quality to deal with Iraq. The handicap is 2.5, with France 1.83 to cover that. France only conceded in the 95th minute against Senegal, and I do feel that they can keep a clean sheet on the way to winning here. Both Teams Not To Score is 1.47 and that looks a nice bet for reasonably small stakes.
