International football is back with a bang as the World Cup qualifiers continue. The Three Lions have two games in this lot of fixtures and they should see anything less than six points as a disappointment.
San Marino are a terrible side, winning only one international in their entire history and that came against fellow perennial losers Liechtenstein. In two games against San Marino, England have plundered 13 goals and I cannot see anything other than a big win at Wembley.
It’ll be a superb chance to build some confidence and for England to find their shooting boots. Wayne Rooney has looked very sharp in his past few games for United and it would cap off the night if he could grab his first goal of the campaign.
Poland are obviously a much stronger side and England cannot underestimate them as they did against Ukraine in London. Jakub Blaszczykowski limped off for Borussia Dortmund on the weekend and that gives Roy Hodgson one less player to worry about.
His club mate Robert Lewandowski continues to show why he’s one of the most sort after attackers in football. Whoever plays at the back will need to keep a close eye on him as he’s deadly in front of goal.
Like in the Euros, there will be a cracking atmosphere inside the ground as the home supporters will sense an upset. However, I fancy England to have enough quality to get the job done and make it a very successful few days. The 2-1 correct score is worth backing and that would be a repeat of England’s last win over Poland in 2005.
Chris Coleman has not enjoyed the best of starts to his tenure with Wales and I’ve not seen many worse performances than their effort against Serbia. That day they were hammered 6-1 to make it five international defeats in a row and I fancy Scotland to add to that on Friday.
Scotland held Serbia to a goalless draw in their last meeting and that was without Kris Commons or Steven Fletcher. Both players have been called up this time around and I’m expecting big things from them after their promising club starts. That makes the Scots much more dangerous in the attacking third and they are a solid bet to take advantage of a backline that has conceded 13 times in five games.
Scotland are worth backing to get their first win of the group at around 2.66 on Betdaq.
