FLEMENSTAR: is definitely the star at Navan today for the Irish Form Book Fortria Chase at 2.50.
Peter Casey’s Flemenstar was a revelation last season, meeting defeat only once over fences on his debut behind subsequent Grade One winner Bog Warrior.
He was an impressive 19-length winner of the Irish Arkle and having skipped Cheltenham, he won the Powers Gold Cup by 11 lengths.
He is definitely the new kid on the block and is single figure odds for the Cheltenham Gold Cup but he has the remarkable Big Zeb to beat today who has won this for the last three years.
Throw in Realt Dubh who has a recent run under his belt and we should be in for a cracker though for me it’s a race to savour and enjoy rather than a punting proposition.
Voler La Vedette makes her seasonal reappearance in the Lismullen Hurdle which she won last year before going on to give Big Buck’s a fright in the World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. She is impossible to oppose but at around 1.15 also pretty much impossible to back !
Sizing Rio won impressively at Fairyhouse and can continue his progress by winning the Grade 3 ‘For Auction’ Novice Hurdle at 1.15.
