DAQMAN GOES EVENING RACING: DAQMAN feels the best bets of the day run at Nottingham this evening. As daring as always he opposes TWO BETDAQ odds-on favourites on the card.
The Jackpot card at Carlisle and the eight race card at Worcester this afternoon both look trappy so I’m heading to Nottingham this evening.
In the long distance handicap at 6.35 Presto Volante has come out which leaves the John Gosden trained Fledged as an odds-on shot.
The Gosden stable have been in much better form over the last 14 days (13 winners from 38).
Fledged himself has been part of the recent success, losing his maiden tag at Lingfield last time out when staying on well over 1m 4f. He showed a good willing attitude that day and the expectation is that he will be even better over the extra 2f here. But the race was weak at Lingfield and he is still unproven over this trip. He is said to have worked well at home in the interim.
With Presto Volante out of the way – the clear danger is the Tom Dascombe trained Montjess who is already tried over this trip and ran well at Sandown to be only beaten 1/4l by Argent Knight. The winner has followed up since at Newmarket – and at the odds (as always) I have to be with her today at around 4 on BETDAQ compared with 1.89 about Fledged.
To be honest – I’ve no idea why there is so much disparity between them, all I know is that it is a nice quandary and one in which I want to be on the value side of.
Godolphin had two of the five runners in the 5.35 race but now rely on Brave Boy after About Turn was withdrawn.
Brave Boy is having his third successive start here and won well enough last time out beating a subsequent winner with the pair finishing clear.
But again he looks too short in the market as both Wee Jean and Harwoods Volante looks credible opponents.
Wee Jean ran well enough in a Group 3 at Ascot having sauntered home on debut at Chepstow whilst Harwoods Volante won well at Salisbury last time out.
DAQMAN’S BETS:
LAY to win 12pts BRAVE BOY (5.35 Nottingham)
BET 6.5 win (nap) MONTJESS (6.35 Nottingham)
