SUPER-NAP HAT-TRICK WITH 5-2 BIG-RACE WINNER: When Daqman said super nap, he meant SUPER nap! Three so far and ALL winners, capped by a cracking 5-2 hit yesterday in the Ladbrokes Ireland Handicap, which he headlined as ‘Lass Vegas for Ladbrokes race.’ The ‘lass’ in question was Lagostovegas, completing a hat-trick of her own in the Listowel feature. The three super naps could have earned a profit of 100 points to 20-point stakes:

WON 13-8 CAPE BYRON
WON 10-11 CARAVAGGIO
WON 5-2 LAGOSTOVEGAS

12-1 VALUE HIT HAS DAQMAN BACKERS LAUGHING: It was literally laugh a minute for Daqman fans as he landed yet another big race, a £300,000 two-year-old test of 22 runners at Doncaster, with Laugh A Minute. This took the returns in the value challenge against the Racing Post to Daqman 72, Pricewise 16, Daqman now 307 points clear. Follow them today in the 1.50, 3.00 and 3.35 Doncaster.

ETERNALLY GRATEFUL FOR BETDAQ 5.5

1.50 Doncaster (Sceptre Stakes) Three-year-olds dominate this (9-10) but have a tough attack today from Pirouette, who is better off with the three-year-old who beat her at Ascot, On Her Toes, and from Eternally, with Frankie Dettori trying to play catch-me-if-you-can.

Tomyris would give Roger Varian a hat trick in today’s race. Just behind Eternally at Goodwood despite a draw out in the centre-course car park, and had beaten On Her Toes, Sibilance and Classical Times at York in the Spring. But that was first run back for Eternally, who has never been out of the frame.

The Irish pair Drumfad Bay and Music Box are old rivals. Drumfad Bay has won two out of three encounters and is marginally best at today’s weights on the better ground.

It’s drying out well for 4.6 BETDAQ offer Talaayeb, fourth in the Newmarket 1,000 Guineas and back to form dropped to today’s trip last time out. But the value this morning was the 5.5 Eternally.

2.25 Doncaster (Flying Childers Stakes) Five out of seven winners came from stalls 2 and 3 and low numbers have dominated up the rail on the first two days of this Leger festival.

Havana Grey (stall 8 today) and Heartache (drawn 1) were duelling for BETDAQ favourite early mouse, and that’s how it looks on form, with only ounces between them on a line through Havana Grey’s Morny conqueror, Unfortunately, who had also beaten Heartache in the Robert Papin.

However, after a break Queen Mary winner, Heartache, is likely to bounce out of the stalls and may never be headed: 2.5 offers this morning.

3.00 Doncaster Mark Johnston, who won this Mallard Handicap in 2012 with the only three-year-old in the race, finds himself in an identical situation here. His improver Time To Study (up 12lb for four starts this year) is the sole second-season animal in the line-up.

Forget his heavy-ground defeat on the last day, and you have a Motivator colt who was within three lengths of Leger hopeful Stradivarius in the Queen’s Vase: 4.1 offers on BETDAQ.

Penglai Pavilion is prepping for Flemington, Elidor is a once-a-year winner, Shrewd has to bounce back and Seamour was behind Lord George in the Northumberland Plate.

First-time cheekpieces and Ryan Moore could make a difference to Byron Flyer but his 222 form suggests he’s a bridesmaid, and finds it hard to catch the bouquet.

3.10 Sandown They wanted only one horse this morning, 2.86 Sharja Bridge 10.0 bar one in the BETDAQ orange), but beware canny placing by Richard Hannon with The Grape Escape, a CD winner brought back to the course fresh.

20.0 FUN BET IN THE DONCASTER CUP

3.35 Doncaster (Cup) This is a cup cracker, starring the heroes of the last two renewals, Pallasator and Sheikhzayedroad, the Lonsdale Cup winner Montaly, the Ascot Stakes winner from Ireland, Thomas Hobson, and the Goodwood Cup third, Desert Skyline, not to mention age-old (nine actually) favourites, High Jinx and Clever Cookie.

The quirky Pallasator might be best behaved with his work rider, Rosie Jessop, to do the steering.

Desert Skyline brings St Leger form to the table, via the Goodwood winner, Stradivarius, and Sheikhzayedroad is weighted to run a dead-head with Montaly on York form.

But also well in at the weights is Fun Mac, 6lb better for around a length with Montaly on Chester Cup form at today’s trip. Desert Skyline’s age allowance could tip the balance (at 4.9 offers) but Fun Mac is huge at 20.0 on BETDAQ as I write.

4.35 Doncaster The defection of Normandy Barriere could to have left this for Mundatab, who, boasts Town Moor form figures of 112.

5.10 Doncaster Pivoine has his last race before going round the sales ring, so we must take a bit of 3.6 for a fond farewell.

6.35 Salisbury Rather like Time To Study at Doncaster, here we have On To Victory as the sole three-year-old starter, getting up to 13lb from the older horses, and reckoned to have a future in the Pattern.
