NOW DAQMAN LANDS HIS NAP: Winner-a-day Daqman followed success on Monday (WON 5-1), Tuesday (WON 4-1) and Wednesday (WON 3-1) with a nap on Suffused (WON 8-13) yesterday at the better-value BETDAQ offers on the morning of the race.

DRAW WITH BETDAQ PRICES: The better BETDAQ value is visible in eight of the nine best-drawn horses for tomorrow’s Northumberland Plate, as described by Daqman in his column today. Read it alongside his ABC analysis on Wednesday (see Archive).

6.4 BEST BET AT NEWCASTLE: Today Daqman looks for yet more value among the better-quality races at Newcastle tonight, with a 6.4 (morning offers) nap. He also has bets at Newmarket at Chester.

TOMORROW’S VALUE TODAY ON A PLATE!

Quest for more value? If you want better offers on Saturday’s Northumberland Plate, just bet with BETDAQ. I said earlier in the week, hold your horses: wait for the draw and the BETDAQ orange.

In my Wednesday ABC I warned that seven out of 10 winners come from single-figure draws. That was my missing key letter ‘F’.

Today I’ve filled that one into the ABC key for those with stalls numbers 1 to 9, in market order, with the BETDAQ offer followed by the bookmaker odds. It gives you:

BDEF Quest For More 9.8 on BETDAQ this morning; 7-1 in places
ABDEF Gabrial’s King 11.5 on BETDAQ this morning; 8-1 in a place
CDEF Clever Cookie 12.0 on BETDAQ this morning; 12-1 most places
BEF Blue Surf 15.5 on BETDAQ this morning; 12-1 generally
ADEF Rite To Reign 15.5 on BETDAQ this morning; 12-1 in places
BEF Nearly Caught 16.0 on BETDAQ this morning; 12-1 all round
AEF Notarised 18.0 on BETDAQ this morning; 12-1 in places
ACDEF Montefeltro 23.0 on BETDAQ this morning; 20-1 in places
ABCF Lucky Bridle 72.0 on BETDAQ this morning; 25-1 in a place.

LOVE GAME TO THE BETDAQ SERVICE AT 6.4

7.15 Newcastle Rae Guest has had 10 of his last 12 runners finish in the first four, and his Azamour filly Goodyearforroses beat the subsequent winners of the Prix de Diane and the Fred Darling Stakes on her only visit to the racecourse last October.

A setback in the Spring cost her a place in the Classics. But for the long absence, she would be – should be – a short priced favourite for this.

There was little more than a length between Talmada and Tioga Pass on collateral form through Miss Marjurie in May, and Tioga Pass is separated only a head from This Is The Day on Nottingham running three weeks back.

My Spirit was hampered at Nottingham that day and Solar Magic (in season) didn’t run her race.

In such a tight affair, the answer could be – should be – to back one of those most lightly raced, and therefore open to further progress.

The improver for me has to be Covert Love (6.4 on BETDAQ this morning), who gave weight and a beating at York to a filly who ran 1,000 Guineas seventh Osaila to three lengths at Royal Ascot.

That’s plenty good enough for this Listed race, and the stable has a 40% strike rate at Newcastle.

7.45 Newcastle (Gosforth Park Cup) Another Wise Kid (now 11lb higher in the ratings) and Confessional (down 2lb) were second and fourth last year, when high stalls dominated for the fourth time in five seasons.

The 10 draw may help Another Wise Kid negate some of his burden today but he’s been upgraded for places and the amount of necessary improvement is unlikely to be forthcoming at age seven.

Another seven-year-old, Arctic Feeling is a 6f horse who would need rain to get involved in the finish of this.

Cheekpieces added to the tongue-tie almost did the trick for Desert Ace on the last day and he has a good strike rate for a sprinter.

No three-year-old has won this in the decade and, though Northgate Lad is running well, I’m picking between Ashpan Sam and Pearl Acclaim.

The one stall worries me for ‘Sam’ and his best recent form is over 6f. Pearl Acclaim came back to form in the Scottish Sprint Cup at Musselburgh earlier this month and is still 10lb below his mark when he was running in races like the Gimcrack as a two-year-old: 9.6 in the BETDAQ orange looks big.

MYSTERY HAS A WINNING AIR ABOUT HER

8.05 Chester The Racing Post Chester Topdraw says there is ‘no draw bias in any race’ today, which makes it a coincidence that last year’s winners through the card came from stalls 2, 3, 4, 1, 1.

It’s also no coincidence that the top three ratings in this claimer have – typically – produced winner and third in each of its two runnings.

Or that the pack of older animals in each of the two years were all beaten by horses aged five and six (again typical of these claimers).

It has me choosing from Al Khan, Energia Flavio and Swift Cedar. There’s always a snag, and the forecast rain could spoil things, but Al Khan shouldn’t have too much trouble with this, dropping down from class-2 efforts.

7.55 and 8.25 Newmarket Three-year-olds have dominated these races in the last two or three seasons, and the Marcus Tregoning filly Air Of Mystery (7.55) looks poised at the foot of the handicap off a tasty 6.8 on BETDAQ this morning.

Zamani (8.25) is a daughter of Teofilo but related on the dam’s side to a top-class hurdler, and 5.1 was interesting until the money came for the other three-year-old, Fibre Optic, first time in a handicap and first run gelded.

I backed both, knowing – as always on BETDAQ – that I could tinker with my position on the race, trade out or double my money. This exchange is total freedom to win!

8.35 Chester The rain would make Comino’s 20.0 on BETDAQ look absurd, as a four-time winner, well drawn and dropped back a furlong from the mile in which his front-running style has failed him the last twice.
