SUPERNAP JUMPS: SUPERNAP FLAT! Daqman has a maximum-stakes opener to the Newmarket Guineas meeting today after his jumps supernap, Majborough (WON 4-11), scored yesterday at Punchestown, where there’s has a fascinating Champion Hurdle today (Daqman previewed the meeting earlier in the week).

COSMIC YEAR FOR JUDDMONTE
⭕ 2.20 Newmarket (King Charles 11 Stakes): STATS: Stalls 1 (twice) and 2 (four times) have won six of the last nine of this 7f Listed. Seven of the last eight were favourite.
Today’s market leader, Cosmic Year, may give Juddmonte racing manager Barry Mahon a bigger yet more welcome headache than he has already with Jonquil and Field Of Gold as their Classic-year stars.
Like Saturday’s 2,000 Guineas favourite, Field Of Gold, Cosmic Year is a son of Kingman.
Out of gate 3 today, he has looked every bit a Pattern player in his preps at Sandown Park (won more than six lengths on debut in the autumn) and Kempton AW (won five lengths in April).
Drawn in the one stall, La Botte was impressive when he went clear at Newcastle at the end of March. A few days earlier, Marvelman (gate 2) was also impressive when five lengths clear at Kempton.
Coventry sixth Symbol Of Honour has scored twice at Meydan this year. He has his trip and ground today.
TRAINER AND JOCKEY VIEW
⭕ 2.55 Newmarket (1m handicap): Charlie Appleby (Spectacular View in stall 4) has landed this three times since 2016 and jockey William Buick four (three of them from stalls 2, 3, 4).
There’s nothing as spectacular as sire Pinatubo’s six-in a row as a juvenile and he’s lost his Pattern rites (gelded in August) but the view is that he will improve after the winter break, now in handicaps.
Dante’s Lad beat Spectacular View’s stablemate, Wild Nature (not clear run), by a length at levels at Kempton in late autumn. Wild Nature is 2lb worse off, trying to reverse the placings.
GRACE AND FAVOUR STAKES
⭕ 4.05 Newmarket (Jockey Club Stakes; 1m 4f Group 2): What are we doing here with £70k-plus for a small-field line-up race of horses without a future. Three of the last five winners failed to score again.
Astute trainers know the only chance they have with horses like these is to get them ready early for just such a gift race, courtesy of racing’s rulers. Not for nothing is it called the Jockey Club Stakes.
LAYS LOGIC: Favourites have a poor record (2-10 outright) despite the small fields.
Three times in the last five years the winner made all, getting a run on the dozy types; even a nine-year-old could do it last year.
Andrew Balding has given gritty mare Divina Grace two Group-2 chances (this one and the Middleton at the York May Meeting) to enhance her paddocks status. She is already in form.
HAVE THE RIGHT ATTITUDE
⭕ 2.35 Goodwood Though the Michael Appleby yard is currently batting badly at 1-26, that one win put the mojo back in the team.
Big Mojo lifted them the Commonwealth Cup Trial at Ascot on Wednesday (but is more likely to go for the King Charles on the opening day of the royal meeting).
Shagraan, who won over this CD on firmish ground in August, has Silvestre De Sousa trying to make up for first run back last season when he got out of a pocket just too late to give 10lb to the winner.
Miss Attitude (Jack Channon) just failed to catch Tatterstall over this CD last summer and drops back from Listed level with the stable in form.
⭕ 3.10 Goodwood Chorus (William Haggas) came into her own over 1m 4f at the end of her three-year-old season and deserves this chance of some back type.
