STARS IN GRADE-1 FEATURE: Daqman’s supernap in Paris, Map Of Stars was beaten a neck yesterday but the race is subject to the return of the Fortune Cookies feature, with money only lent. See ‘Rhyme’s Irish Gold Target’.
TODAY: Daqman heads to three venues for low stakes bets at Ayr, Lingfield and Windsor on a modest days racing.
RHYME’S IRISH GOLD TARGET
FORTUNE COOKIES: the successful Daqman listing, Fortune Cookies returns today with the promise of checking out the horses in training likely to make history this year.
The Prix Ganay, yesterday’s first Group 1 in Europe, previously won by such as Arc winner Sotsass, went to last year’s Arc fourth, Sosie, when Mickael Barzalona was caught short of room on the favourite, Francis Graffard’s dual winner already this year, Map Of Stars.
Though making his seasonal debut for Andre Fabre, Sosie, superbly poaching a lead under Maxime Guyon, held on a neck on ground better than normally encountered in Paris.
Third home, keeping on, was Karl Burke’s Yorkshire raider, Royal Rhyme, the Champion Stakes third, also on debut for the season and paying his first visit to Longchamp.
The five-year-old, son of the 2010 French Derby winner, Lope De Vega, now has a date in Ireland for the Curragh Gold Cup on Sunday, May 25, which is also Group 1.
THAT’S THE SPIRIT
⭕ 3.30 Ayr We have to make a presumption here. Not something I’m always keen on doing as I prefer not to second guess but there’s a little logic here to make it an educated presumption!
We have to ignore the last run of Spirit Of Acklam who was beaten into 17th in a class 2 handicap at Doncaster last month.
He’s much better than that running and might get the chance to show it here now dropped two levels in class and returning to more favoured good ground (was good to soft at Doncaster).
He previously showed good form over course and distance when third to Can’t Stop Now off a mark of 80 last October (also good ground).
He’s a pound lower today and might prove hard to beat in a race that surely won’t take much winning?
Main danger on the Betdaq Betting Exchange is Sea Regal who has his first start for David O’Meara having become a little disappointing for William Haggas.
HOLLIE HEADLINES AGAIN
⭕ 5.20 Lingfield Fresh from a four-timer on Saturday night, Hollie Doyle has another good looking book of rides today including L’Karama who bids to make it third time lucky in the maiden (4.15pm).
She has a good chance in the one mile finale too with Calanthe who is long overdue another win since his course and distance success last September.
He looks back to winning form judged by a solid effort at Kempton last time out and the Archie Watson yard are running pretty hot at the moment.
Main danger could be the consistent Union Island who might again stay on into a place.
HERE COMES THE SUN
⭕ 7.00 Windsor Summer has arrived !!! Monday evening racing returns to Windsor.
Kinetic romped home by seven and a half lengths over course and distance last year but he’s up 21lb in the weights since those days and also has a an extra 5lb to carry for his win last week at Lingfield. That’s getting on for a two stone hike and it might be the ultimate steadier.
I’ll take a chance with Forest Spirit who brings good all-weather form to the table and she looks potentially well handicapped if handling the grass as adeptly.

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
