NINE WINNING NAPS OUT OF 10: After seven winning bets on Saturday, Daqman made it 10 for the weekend with three more yesterday, including his nap, Ballydoyle (WON 6-4), bringing his naps tally to 9 out of 10, among them five consecutive bankers. The sequence is:

WON 1-2 Shalaa (gold banker)
WON 10-11 Donna Graciosa (banker)
WON 5-6 Dark Emerald (banker)
WON 10-11 Kayla (banker)
3RD 6-1 Daisy Boy (winning place nap)
WON 11-10 Second Wave (nap)
2ND 6-4 Secateur (losing win nap)
WON 8-11 Vazirabad (banker)
WON 11-8 Esoterique (nap)
WON 6-4 Ballydoyle (nap)

9-1 BULL’S EYE IN THE ABBAYE: His killer punt of the day was a 50-point Bull’s-Eye Bet on the Prix de l’Abbaye winner, Goldream (WON 9-1), and he also tipped Covert Love (WON 18-5).

DAQMAN 77 AHEAD OF PRICEWISE: It was 1-1 in the challenge to Pricewise, bringing the score for the weekend to 4-1 for Daqman and the season’s totals to Daqman 92, Pricewise 15 (overall score: 233-88).

VALUE HUNTING AND COMMISSION CUTTING

TOP-UP TIPS Look out this week for Top-Up Tips, where I’m trying to find you horses and races where topping up the offers can earn you a reduction in commission.

PRICING UP That brings me to the professional way of assessing value; how pricing up can put you forever on the right side. It’s all about spotting value and what to do about it.

FULL BETS GUIDE I shall examine my entire betting strategy for the final weeks of the Flat, featuring the Cesarewitch meeting at Newmarket and the Ascot Champions Day.

MASTER RIDES, BY GEORGE! (OH, AND FRANKIE)

I can’t remember two better rides in one weekend. And I laid both winners! Credit where it’s due to them, and I got my money back in spades from 10 winning bets.

DUTCH MASTERPIECE: I’m sure I’d lay that one again, without a win in two years and a notorious slow starter, not to mention sometimes reluctant finisher.

But Dutch Masterpiece – and me – we reckoned without George Baker at Ascot on Saturday, steadying the gelding in rear, switching to the rails and going for a gap which meant that he wasn’t permitted more than a slight swerve under pressure. Brave.

GOLDEN HORN: What can you say? Well, you can say that confidence breeds winners. That tactics overcome even a Sepp Blatter draw. Confidence and tactics united in both John Gosden and Frankie Dettori.

But what about the horse himself.. Golden Horn failed to do what many expected of him (mea culpa): wilt under the pressures of a long season and finally run a jaded race.

Those handicappers who marked him down as a ‘middling’ Derby winner, will now have to revise their figures, particularly when Jack Hobbs wins the Champion Stakes.

HAVE A PYJAMA PARTY AT PONTEFRACT

PONTEFRACT I start with the Nursery at 2.30.  This looks quite competitive and although I’m not as inclined to target a Nursery, there looks to be very good value here.

Seastrom was third in a valuable sales race at Newmarket last month and brings some nice form with that. He beat the 80 rated Tawakkol in a York Maiden in May and drops back in Class from a Class 2 event last time.

Noble Peace is also of note. He’s run four with three places. That is not something that one likes to see but outside of the top four or five in this, there is not much else to chose from and he can placed again.

I’m going with Yorkee Mo Sabee for Mark Johnston as the pick. He won a Maiden over course and distance last time out, justifying favouritism. He did that well but hasn’t been well treat here by the draw.

At time of writing, he is showing 7.2 to Back in the Each Way so I suggest asking for a little more to close the gap between the Back and the Lay price of 9.8. Avail of 2% Commission, if Matched, and ask for 7.8 in the Each Way Market. Playing it safe with a Win and Place and hopefully he can oblige.

Thirty minutes later, at 3.05, the pick is Pyjama Party, who looks like a progressive type. His win at Ripon was probably not the strongest of races, but he did it very impressively.

Lovely Memory is the jolly and won impressively at Chelmsford last time, her third time of asking. She stretched clear to win by almost 4 lengths, going away. That was quite a weak race though and he may prefer a step up in trip.

Pyjama Party looks the value in the race with plenty of experience and decent form on grass.

MARKET RASEN Over fences at Market Rasen is where I have found my Nap. The handicap Chase at 3.50 appears to be a great opportunity for the Charlie Longsdon trained Ready Token. Although he’s been off since June, his win at Ffos Las the time before was a good performance.

He doesn’t always jump very well though, but he seems to have quite a decent engine and will be hard to beat, once he stands up. There’s a decent gap between the Back and Lay prices on BETDAQ this morning at 2.92 to Back and 3.25 to Lay. My suggestion is to ask for 3.0 and avail of the lower Commission.

WINDSOR Just the one selection for Windsor this afternoon. Aussie Andre has shown some good snippets of form this year including a win two runs back and then finished second in a good Handicap at Ascot behind Richard of Yorke.

He wouldn’t have been entirely suited by the slower surfaces that he’s encountered mostly this season so he should improve on today’s Good ground.

DAQMAN’S BETS (Staked 1-9pts on strength, 10pts for a Banker)
BET 2pts win and place YORKEE MO SABEE (2.35 Pontefract)
BET 4pts win PYJAMA PARTY (3.05 Pontefract)

BET 4pts win AUSSIE ANDRE (4.00 Windsor)
