IRISH GUINEAS WEEK: Later in the week his attention switches to the Curragh in Ireland for the 2,000 Guineas on Saturday and the 1,000 Guineas on Sunday where Donnacha O’Brien is supplementing his unbeaten filly Atsila who won over course and distance earlier in the month.
WATER INTO GOLDIE AGAIN
⭕ 3.00 Carlisle Jim Goldie has sent out six winners from his last 23 runners including Water Of Leith who bids for a quick follow up under a 4lb penalty after his success at Catterick (6f) last week.
The return to quick ground was undoubtedly a factor and whilst he is no handicap good thing today, a similar effort should get him home over the minimum distance.
He seems versatile between 5f-6f and this is a stiff finish so probably falls between the two in real terms.
BEST LEFT TO WILLO
⭕ 4.45 Redcar Novello Lad heads the Betdaq Betting Exchange market here after a pleasing first run of the season at Doncaster which was also his first start since wind surgery.
Paul Midgley has his string in good form and this fella should run another big race over the quick ground he relishes.
However a big danger lurks in the shape of the Declan Carroll trained Willolarupi who was a dual winner last year and ran well at wetherby last time out when runner-up to Northcliff.
The winner went on to win his next two starts, including a class 4 at Ascot, so the form looks smart and there’s every chance Willolarupi bumped into one that day.
KINGKEER OF ROYAL WINDSOR
⭕ 7.20 Windsor Kingkeer strikes me as being especially well handicapped at the moment and a 4lb penalty for his course and distance win two weeks ago is unlikely to halt his progress.
He won nicely under tonight’s pilot Tom Marquand and comes into this still relatively unexposed on just his fourth handicap start.
Macari is out again quickly after his win in class 3 company at Salisbury last Thursday. He’s very much respected under his resulting penalty.
