MONDAY MIX: Daqman starts the week by keeping the Betdaq stakes low and has recommended selections from the two afternoon jumps cards at Carlisle and Southwell with an evening nap in the finale at Wolverhampton.
WEEKEND COUNTDOWN: Daqman is looking for another profitable weekend of tipping. Highlights this weekend include Kempton. They host the Adonis Hurdle where Nicky Henderson’s Palladium – previous winner of the German Derby – bids to follow up on his Huntingdon winning debut and chip further away at his £1.4 million purchase price!
STRIVING TO TAKE ON JIVING
⭕ 3.20 Carlisle Joltin N Jiving is fully entitled to improve on bis hurdles debut at Bangor where he finished a well-held second to the hot favourite Junker d’Allier.
However the winner has had his limitations exposed in better company since and Joltin N Jiving makes very little appeal at a likely shade of odds on.
Preference is for the more experienced Pigeon House who is a dual winner over hurdles and represents the bang in form Jennie Candlish who has sent out seven winners from her last 20 runners.
He’s been running well this season, although was found out in a hot class 2 at Musselburgh last tine out won by Intense Approach who has an Albert Bartlett entry.
A drop of two grades should see him get much more competitive, especially if the first tine visor have a positive impact.
Kahavari is hard to assess on his first UK start. He showed promise in France and is clearly ready to go as he also holds two entries for races on Wednesday.
By taking on the odds-on shot I can afford to back two sensible alternatives.
WE’RE GETTING THERE …..
⭕ 4.45 Southwell Gotthereintheend has improved since switching stables and her course and distance second to Lyle View (pair finished well clear) was much more like it. She built on an encouraging stable debut at Ascot and further improvement here should make her hard to beat.
Mount Washington comes into this on the back of a first career success at Plumpton last time out but a 5lb hike looks tough in what looks a much better race, despite officially still being a class 5.
Passengerontheship made an encouraging handicap debut at Wetherby where he was a big drifter in the market. The handicapper has generously dropped him a pound for that effort and I will include in my selections.
KEEP CHEERFUL WITH CHARLIE
⭕ 8.30 Wolverhampton A card that gives opportunities for riders struggling for winners which rules out Luke Morris who will need to wait a little longer to register his 500th course winner.
I’m waiting for the finale and sticking with Charlie Mason to follow up on his course and distance win last week.
He seemed to appreciate his return to six furlongs and the resulting 3lb penalty doesn’t look overly harsh. He’s fared well in the draw department, coming out of stall two.
Hierarchy was heading the morning Betdaq Betting Exchange market and is another making a quick reappearance having finished second at Southwell last week when he was sent off favourite.
After ‘winning’ at Lingfield in January he was disqualified by the clerk of the scales and has since finished 222 suggesting he may need some help from the handicapper who has him locked on 72.
