TRIPLE WHAMMY! THREE IN A RACE: Daqman defied all odds yesterday by landing three winning bets out of three in one race: a win on his nap, a place on an outsider and a lay on the morning favourite:

WON Illuminate (7-4, nap)
WON Blue Bayou (place, 3rd 20-1)
WON Easton Angel (lay, 4th 7-4 fav)

SIX WINNING BETS ON THE DAY: Daqman then added three more winners on the same Newmarket card to bring his haul to six winning bets there on the day for a total of 73 points profit:

WON 7-1 Magical Memory
WON 5-1 New Providence
WON 5-1 Mr Win

SEVEN NAPS OUT OF NINE: Illuminate made it two naps out of two at the July Meeting, so he’s now on seven out of nine:

WON 4-5 Birdman
WON 9-4 Riflescope
WON 4-9 Golden Horn (banker)
WON 1-1 Almodovar
WON 7-4 Lilian Baylis
WON 11-10 Mr Singh (banker)
WON 7-4 Illuminate

EIGHT LAYS IN A ROW: Easton Angel was his eighth consecutive successful lay, six of them favourites:

WON (place lay) Collaboration (unplaced 8-1)
WON (win lay) Telescope (unplaced 6-4 fav)
WON (win lay) Wicklow Brave (unplaced 5-4 fav)
WON (win lay) Cenotaph (3rd 15-8 fav)
WON (place lay) Speed Check (unplaced 6-1)
WON (win lay) Amazing Speed (2nd 4-9 fav)
WON (win lay) Mahsoob (unplaced 5-2 fav)
WON (win lay) Easton Angel (unplaced 7-4 jt fav)

THE 50 UP OVER PRICEWISE: Daqman defeated Pricewise 5-1 on the day, and took the challenge scores to Daqman 54, Pricewise 10 in the current season, 195-83 overall. Today they clash in the 1.45, 2.20 and 3.25 York; 2.10 Ascot; 3.10 and 3.45 Newmarket.

ROBOT BOY A MASSIVE BETDAQ OFFER AT 16.0

1.45 York Stalls 3 to 7 had a run of seven consecutive successes in the decade, and anything over 14 is struggling out wide, or more likely dropped in behind the wall.

The top half of the handicap (9st 5lb plus) has won this six years out of the last eight; so you’re looking for quality, near Pattern class, eight times out of 10 aged four, five or six.

In fact, there are six Pattern performers here. Highly-regarded Basateen (seasonal debut, badly drawn) and Strong Chemistry (first-time hood; beaten favourite last twice) represent the three-year-olds, who have won it just once in the decade. Both have finished close up in Group 3.

First and second in a CD Listed were Alfred Hutchinson and You’re Fired, and the fifth horse home that day in May was Fort Bastion (not clear run then; badly drawn today).

I like the improvers Birdman (Group placed as a two-year-old; 10.5 on BETDAQ early mouse) and Musaddas. Both may not have stopped winning; both are well drawn; both stables are in form.

Gabrial’s Kaka (14.5 offers; stall 10) is 11lb lower than he was last summer, and will win again soon, but trainer Richard Fahey is badly out of form with 15 straight losers, one win from 26, so it’s hard to have faith.

2.10 Ascot Robot Boy, third in this last year and better off with the winner, Discussiontofollow, was overfaced in the Kings Stand at Royal Ascot. He is claimed off and dropped five grades, so is a massive offer at 16.0 in the BETDAQ orange, as I write.

The low numbers prevailed in the Kings Stand and Indescribable should give them a massive tow today, though Humidor (gate 13) is also a front-runner.

There isn’t a gnat’s whisker between Humidor, Kingsgate Choice and Double Up (stall six today) on Newmarket form of last month.

Double Up had been one of the flagbearers for Roger Varian, as his yard struggled in the Spring. Roger now has recent results of 113144 and an earlier hat-trick among 10 winners in the last fortnight.

A revived Taajub could come into it, well handicapped now, but I prefer Double Up (9.6 offers) at half his age, with Robot Boy the best outsider.

FAMOUS KID CAN STEP UP IN THE SILVER CUP

2.20 York (John Smith’s Silver Cup) At Newmarket (Rowley) in May, Astronereus had the Northumberland Plate winner in second with Arab Dawn third, and the Old Newton Cup runner-up fourth.

The tables were turned by Arab Dawn in the Duke Of Edinburgh (1m 4f) at Royal Ascot, when Famous Kid – giving weight to both – was hampered.

I’m not sure Astronereus is going to stay the extra two furlongs here and the 6.8 offer Famous Kid, half-brother to St Leger winner, Mastery, looks the one to be on. A first-time hood failed to inspire Montaly on the last day.

LOGAN HAS A DISGUISED LOOK TO HIS FORM

3.25 York (John Smith’s Cup) Here’s the Duke Of Edinburgh winner, Arab Dawn, favourite narrowly this morning but, whereas we’ve just been talking about a step up to 1m 6f for the Silver Cup, this is a drop back to 1m 2f.

Arab Dawn also has the little problem of a 5lb turnaround with the half-length Duke Of Edinburgh runner-up, Ajman Bridge, though that one’s been placed seven times now without earning the bouquet, and is up 16lb in that time. Bridesmaid Bridge!

First Flight finished in front of Arab Dawn last season and, in his best run this, should turn around the CD placings at the York May meeting with Master Of Finance.

But First Flight (short of room) was behind both Mark Johnston runners, Sennockian Star and Fire Fighting, at Royal Ascot. Mount Logan (fourth) was another who couldn’t get a clear run that day.

At 10.5 on BETDAQ as I write, he looks disguised, and wins this on the pick of his form.

He needed the race at Epsom in April (11lb better with Fire Fighting now) before being hampered at Royal Ascot, and got bogged down in the November Handicap last year (heavy) after storming home over 1m 4f over the same course and distance on a sound surface.

MUHAARAR STAMINA CAN MUG BRAZEN BEAU

3.10 Newmarket (Bunbury Cup) Seven winners in the decade were rated at least 98. Eight of the 10 had an SP between 10-1 and 16-1. Nice work if you can get it!

Whatever goes around comes round in the business of racing form, unless you can spot an improver and, in this race, that would have to be a four-year-old.

In fact, it would have to be Unforgiving Minute, who looks plotted up for this, with James Doyle booked. The ground is right but is the draw (stall 3)?

Straight course winners came out of 10, 15 and 15 again yesterday.

And it’s the same worry for Jallota (stall 1), Ayaar (2), Formdecisions (5) and Lulu The Zulu (8)

Ayaar looked as if he might win the Royal Hunt Cup a furlong out at this trip. Spark Plug had beaten the Hunt Cup winner at Newbury after Ayaar had beaten Spark Plug in the Spring Cup there.

Of the high stalls, Field Of Dream and One Word More seem not wanted at 41.0 and 22.0 respectively this morning, so I’’ll take the 12.0 that Bronze Angel does one of his final-furlong drives.

3.45 Newmarket (July Cup) Out with the old and in with the new. There-year-olds have won this three times in eight years and I’m ditching the old try-hards and diehards, like Jack Dexter, Steps and Sole Power, even my old mate Muthmir, in favour of a battle royal between Brazen Beau and Muhaarar.

Brazen Beau had a bunch of these behind when runner-up in the Diamond Jubilee, racing alone, but I thought that he looked a 5f horse in terms of the waited-with, fast-ground 6f sprints we get in England.

That kind of race race perfectly suits Muhaarar, winner of the Commonwealth Cup in a faster time than the Diamond Jubilee, sparkling in a dashing drive to the line.

He’s also showed class and stamina, winning the Greenham, with a Guineas-placed colt behind him.

When you’re on a roll, you’ve got to keep rolling the dice. ‘Yours and raise you’! So here we go: Muhaarar the nap; the Aussie monster Brazen Beau a lay.

We’re on the oche, so let’s even try repeating yesterday’s three-in-bed. I’ll go G Force to bounce back at 18.5 on BETDAQ, the exchange that’s served me so well in the current winners spree.

It must end sometime. But the good news with BETDAQ is we can always start again, and get the same seam of value.
