BIG-RACE JOY FOR DAQMAN: Daqman watched as Joyeuse romped home eight lengths in the famous featured hurdle at Newbury yesterday to land 50 points from his bull’s-eye bet.
SATURDAY 26pts profit on the day
WON 9-2 JOYEUSE
EXETER: NOW IS THE HOUR: Today Daqman mixes his stakes again, hoping for one good winner to cover three races in just 68 minutes of ‘off’ times at Exeter but he could get another ‘bull’s-eye’ or another nap, or both.
CREDO WELL IN, I BELIEVE
⭕ 3.00 Exeter Most jumpers lose the plot from aged 11 onwards, witness the results of this among other veterans’ chases: the last five winners have been 10-year-olds.
Before dismissing those over 10, the old boys’ records have to be considered, and here we have an exception to the rule in Copperhead.
He took form figures of 11122 (all in class 2) into a veterans’ chase at Market Rasen last month and beat Sam Brown (Cloudy Glen fell). Sam was not disgraced (aged 13) in the Denman Chase yesterday.
Dashel Drasher was fourth when Copperhead was runner-up in a Cheltenham veterans’ handicap in December, and hasn’t won a chase for four years.
Ask Me Early won this race last year in first-time cheekpieces, when the ground was heavy; it won’t be so bad today and he’s shown poor form since.
Three times a Cheltenham winner, Does He Know won the Grimthorpe at Doncaster in the Spring, and ran a solid race on the same course in December. Class horse of the race off 149.
Gustavian’s weight has dropped 10lb or so over the last four years, his chances at the weights tempered by a modest score of 1-23 in that time.
Stablemate Credo, visored first time and with Harry Cobden up, is back to her winning mark of two years ago.
Betdaq Betting Exchange 6.1 Credo, 7.9 Does He Know
HARSH ‘HIDDEN’ AT 17.5
⭕ 3.33 Exeter The Philip Hobbs yard is 3-7 and Keable goes for a hat-trick, forced to climb two grades, a total of 19lb higher for romping home here at Exeter on New Year’s Day, then following up at Newbury. His run may not have finished: BETDAQ 5.8
It’s a year ago since Jeriko Du Reponet completed his own hurdles hat-trick but, in Nicky Henderson’s own words to Raceform, he ‘surprised and fooled us’ at Newbury in November, beaten favourite for the second time in 21 days.
He is now raised in trip to where Strackan (holds Catch Him Derry) has landed his own hat-trick at Cheltenham (3m), hiking him 24lb, but he didn’t beat horses of any great shakes along the way.
Phantomofthepoints has also done well over 3m, third in the Stayers’ Hurdle at Haydock and scoring at Wincanton.
Harsh is an enigma. Bred for a mile or so on the Flat, he has been staying on in good company as if today’s trip would suit over hurdles.
Push The Button is likely to set the pace but giving more than a stone to Keable looks beyond him. Harsh is the ‘hidden’ horse at offers of 17.5 this morning.
FLASH LIKES TO DOUBLE UP
⭕ 4.08 Exeter Flash Gorcombe put back-to-back wins together in the Spring of 2023 and again last year (in fact, 3-5 between January and April). BETDAQ value at 8.5 to follow up his course win on New Years’ Day.
Looking For Larry, on the other hand, has managed only isolated hits and both over hurdles, though did win a restricted Point three years ago.
Haass Boy also has hurdles form but has been beaten a total of 99 lengths in his two chases.
Sherborne’s sole chase success was 10lb lower on heavy at Wincanton. Since then his form figures at around today’s trip are a frustrating 3222.
Similarly, Valirann Gold scored on heavy last February, also following with a painful sequence of 43233032.
Tribesmans Glory finished 12 lengths behind Flash Gorcombe last Spring, though in receipt of 16lb. Fire Dancer weakened out of it that day but is down the handicap with cheekpieces fitted first time.

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
