DAQMAN’S PLACE NAP UP AT 10-1: Daqman’s bull’s-eye bet, Revoir (2nd 10-1), failed by a short-head to get up at Newmarket yesterday but landed his place nap of the day. He has more outsiders for Sunday.
NEXT WEEK: Look out for Daqman previews on the Irish 2,000 and 1,000 Guineas.
THE ASTOUNDING STABLE..
⭕ 4.03 Naas Simply Astounding! That’s Aidan O’Brien’s Classic-trial haul in double figures this Spring. Now here’s one for next year..
Simply Astounding, his two-year-old daughter of Minding, is back at Naas, where her career began in April.
Today should set her up for Royal Ascot but it’s no shoo-in, with the opposition including very speedy Lady Imam and Green Sense, who is also Ascot targeted.
Saffron Dandy is sent over from England but I’d be more interested in this Dandy Man filly if the race were run over 5f.
MARQUAND SET TO BLOOM
⭕ 4.15 Newmarket Spirit Of Applause led off a slow pace at Nottingham eight days ago but gave way to Sanat in the final stages; it’s even closer between them now, with the weights adjusted a pound.
Reigning Profit (up 12lb for this hat-trick bid) and Musselburgh specialist Zarzyni are unlikely to enjoy the wide open spaces of the Rowley Mile.
Tail-swisher Spring Bloom is the only CD winner in the field: scored at this meeting in 2023 and last year stepped up to 6f for back-to-back wins on the July Course.
Tom Marquand, who was on the second leg of that double, is back in the saddle today. BETDAQ 6.2 taken.
MERCURY RISING FOR JIM
⭕ 4.45 Newmarket LAYS LOGIC: Jim Goldie makes a 750-mile trip from Lanarkshire with his lone raider, Yaaser.
Yaaser was beaten at York on Friday and, for me, is a favourite to oppose in a race where they don’t do well: 1-10 won by the clear market leader; four double-figure SPs up to 20-1.
Jane Chapple-Hyam, who won the Listed at York that day with excellent prospect Kon Tiki, puts first-time blinkers on course winner Flag Of St George.
The grey Ash Wednesday has won six of his last seven starts, 30lb higher now, and Lord Rapscallion is raised a stone overall, also for a hat-trick. He won this race in 2023.
My outsider is Mercury Day, winner over a mile on the July Course (firm) under Jim Crowley, who is back on board today; 75% when riding for Conrad Allen. Betdaq Betting Exchange 17.5 taken (4.3 a place).
A BIG ‘YES’ VOTE TO NEIGHS
⭕ 5.45 Newmarket Three-year-olds who have already put up quality performances have won this five years out of six off 9st 3lb to 9st 6lb. Only Bolo Neighs qualifies (9.2 BETDAQ offer this morning).
He leapt into the Listed league (3rd in the Rockingham at York) after winning a big sales race at the Curragh.
Hector Crouch has a 61% win-and-place strike-rate (22% winners) for Ralph Beckett, for whom he rode Revoir in the Fillies Trial here yesterday.
Revoir is still learning the time of day and Hector wasn’t hard on the Oaks outsider.
She is one of nine Beckett fillies left in the Epsom Classic and it will be interesting to see if she takes yesterday well and can wear the stable’s yellow jersey.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
