PROFITS BRIDGE THE WEEKENDS: Daqman, who landed a big-race double across the two days of last weekend for an overall profit of 32.8 points, hit another two for 36 points profit in one day yesterday, including Famous Bridge in the Grand National Trial at Haydock.

MICHAEL O’SULLIVAN
Punchestown’s Grand National Trial card this afternoon has been abandoned, following the death in Cork University Hospital earlier today of Cheltenham-Festival-winning jockey Michael O’Sullivan (24) after a five-horse pile-up at the last hurdle in a race at Thurles on February 6. We extend our sympathy to relatives and friends.
TRAINERS’ FORMULA: PATIENCE
LAYERS win money because they know that punters forget. But Daqman turned back the pages of his notebook one year yesterday.
He found his own glowing words from trainer Nicky Richards about Famous Bridge, before the horse started favourite for the Haydock Park Grand National Trial.
Result on the day: pulled up. Result before this year’s running of the same race yesterday: Famous Bridge was on offer at 9.3 on BETDAQ for a Daqman (win 50 points) bulls-eye bet and won smoothly at 6-1 SP.
A fine training performance by Richards, who patiently prepped the horse to bridge that gap on the day Paul Nicholls was also on the line a very long year on from his last Grade-1 win with Pic D’Orhy.
Pic D’Orhy’s power performance in doing the double in the Ascot Chase was nothing short of stunning, jumping them all into the rain-soaked ground, 10 lengths clear at the line.
It gave Nicholls Grade-1 number 148 and put him back in the firing line for a 15th championship after a below-par season.
Punters were left in no doubt after his daughter and chief scout, Megan, told ITV viewers: ‘Pic D’Orhy will win!’
REY OF HOPE FOR DOUBLE BID
⭕ 1.52 Lingfield Rey De La Batalla landed back-to-back wins at this time last year – first leg at Lingfield – and looks set to follow up another Lingfield strike of nine days ago, though offers of 8.8 on BETDAQ make you nervous. But I can’t have two in front of him in the morning market.
Invincible Aura won a race here billed as class 4 but the second horse home could manage only a class-5 success in 16 previous starts and the third remains 0-11 on AW.
Al Waqidi, brought back in January after four years off, has continued to have his wind operated on, and I’d want to see him again before risking a bet.
A 6.2 BETDAQ offer this morning, Cavalry Call is 0-6 on AW but was a good second here at Lingfield in September.
Weakened only in the final furlong at Newcastle behind Apiarist, who stormed past rivals rated 96 and 90 at Southwell on Friday.
⭕ 3.52 Lingfield Arcadian Nights has twice been out of the frame here since his Lingfield success a grade lower a year ago now.
He did win at Chelmsford in January but the runner-up is 0-13 on AW and the third 1-17 in two years (Running The Game sixth).
To my mind the finish rests between Raintown, who had Lingfield win number six nine days back, and Hitched: 111 at Lingfield between November and January).
Betdaq Betting Exchange4.4 Raintown, 6.5 Hitched at 10 a.m .
HILL HAT-TRICK ONLY DELAYED
⭕ 4.30 Musselburgh Cardamon Hill is the one best suited to the trip today: he failed in a hat-trick bid here in December, dropped back three furlongs.
But before that he had scored over 3m at Wetherby and then over today’s CD at Musselburgh.
Versatile on the Edinburgh track, Hold On To The Line has won over hurdles here twice at 2m 4f and over fences at 2m and 2m 4f.
Jem In Em has scored only once; that was stepped up to 3m 2f some 16 months back.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
