NAPS HAT-TRICK ON GOLDEN DAY: Daqman landed winning bets in five races out of six yesterday in another amazing Saturday, capped by a diamond 40-point banker on Golden Horn (WON 4-9) for his third consecutive winning nap, as follows:

WON 4-5 Birdman
WON 9-4 Riflescope
WON 4-9 Golden Horn

10-1 WIN IN 96 POINTS PROFIT: His five returns netted 96 points in one day to recommended stakes from four winners and an unlucky 16-1 third (started slowly and finished well):

WON 5-2 WAADY
WON 7-2 BASEM (from BETDAQ 5.5)
3RD 16-1 FARQUHAR
WON 10-1 BLOND ME (from BETDAQ 13.0)
WON 4-9 GOLDEN HORN (diamond banker)

11-0 OVER PRICEWISE SINCE ASCOT: Golden Horn landed him his ninth super-banker (silver, gold and diamond) out of 11. Returns from Basem, Farquhar and Golden Horn gave him a 3-0 win over Pricewise, following 6-0 at Royal Ascot and 2-0 last weekend, taking the season’s tally to Daqman 48, Pricewise 9 (overall 189-82).

BID FOR FIVE LAYS IN A ROW: Today Daqman gives you the stats and facts at four meetings, playing with small stakes at Ayr, Fairyhouse, Limerick and Market Rasen. His bets include a place lay. Current lays record (four from four):

WON (place lay) Collaboration (unplaced 8-1)
WON (lay) Telescope (unplaced 6-4 fav)
WON (lay) Wicklow Brave (unplaced 5-4 fav)
WON (lay) Cenotaph (3rd 15-8 fav)

GEORGE BAKER BREAD-AND-BUTTER BET AT AYR

1.30 Ayr A strong indicator, surely, that George Baker, who last went North to win the Northumberland Plate, and land a double that day, is here for the one ride on Almodovar. Will be short, but there’s little butter for our bread today.

Almodovar, brilliantly named (Sea The Stars – Melodramatic), didn’t read the script at Sandown, when George reported that the colt ran green.

Biff Johnson is one of six rides for Graham Lee but he’s gone 42 mounts in 288 days without winning on the course. Stella Etoile is beginning to look exposed as not very stellar, and Smartie Artie contrived to be ‘slow away’ on his debut, even in a hood!

3.05, 4.10 and 4.45 Ayr Winners of three of last year’s races on the same card return for another go.
Testa Rossa (3.05) has dropped to the exact same rating (top marks for tautology) as when he scored that day. Sound Advice (4.10) is 3lb higher.

And it’s Jinky’s 25th appearance at Ayr (4.45). He’s won here three times, including a division of this last year, 5lb lower than today.

At offers of 5.2, 8.8 and 15.0 respectively, in racecard order, I shall bet 4pts, 3pts and 2pts, attempting to win 20 points or so if just one of them wins. Stop at a winner.

BROWNSTOWN FAVOURITES LOST IN THE MIST?

2.25 Fairyhouse Kevin Prendergast is 2-2 in this since 2009, including one ridden by an apprentice. His Lawman colt Fair City, also claimed off, has the draw on his side, and might be worth a euro at 12.5 on BETDAQ this morning.

2.55 Fairyhouse Ger Lyons, going for a hat-trick in this, has put first-time blinkers on Trinity Force and dropped him to a sprint trip, another ‘first time’ in the gelding’s career.

Further encouragement this morning in that Trinity Force took over the favourite’s spot on BETDAQ, with Chillie Billie weakening in the market.

3.30 Fairyhouse (Brownstown Stakes) Four-year-olds are five out of six in this. Fastnet Rocks are having a great year; so, too, David Wachman, with Curvy and Legatissimo among the best we’ve seen.

With Wachman currently having 17 of his last 19 starters in the first four, Fastnet Mist is worth a euro win and place, in a race in which the front two are 2.52 and 2.84 and can’t be split.

The market seems to be key to Fastnet Mist: she was first and second in two races when favourite, but no show after, starting between 8-1 and 33-1.

Take an early position at 15.0 and hope today’s the day (and you can trade later on). I like double cover, so I’m also backing the same stable’s Queen Nefertiti (5.3 as I write).

DON’T WAVER: GET ON GERAGHTY’S FIRST!

2.35 Limerick Barry Geraghty riding for Aidan O’Brien; there’s a novelty. But his mount, Waver (I took 9.0 on BETDAQ), is his first for new retainer, J P McManus, who had to find somebody else to replace that other fellow.. what was his name, now? A P McCoy.

The gloves are off on day one with a Ricci runner, Valyssa Monterg, sent out by Willie Mullins, but there isn’t a Gigginstown in sight until later on in the Dooradoyle Chase and the Galway Plate Trial.

4.50 Limerick (Galway Plate Trial) Gigginstown’s Bishops Road (4.8) should be suited by the track, and is likely to try and boss them from the start. Look for a trade out in the final stages.

KNOCK ON WOOD! JOHNSON TOUGH AS TEAK

4.25 Market Rasen One of the best races of the day, a class 2 with a nice 20lb range, top (Tanerko Emery) to bottom (Aviator).

It features the three leading course trainers, percentage-wise, all in the same race: James Eustace (Aviator), John Ferguson (Aalim under jockey-in-form Aidan Coleman) and David Dennis (Terminal), all with better than 33% strike rate at the track, and Ferguson with near 40% hits generally.

Aviator is the novice improver, unexposed at the trip and getting lumps of weight all round, but Teak has Richard Johnson up (2-3 on him), seeking compensation for a brave run at Royal Ascot. Knock on wood!

5.30 Market Rasen They say you should have more than one reason for laying a horse. How about seven reasons for laying Speed Check, second favourite early mouse on BETDAQ?

(One) Speed Check has been absent 248 days – reason unknown – and (two) the form of his reappearance runs is 00. Three: trainer Don Cantillon hasn’t had a winner in this jumps season.

Speed Check drops back from his winning trip of 21-22 furlongs (four) to two miles, at which his form figures are 000. He’s worn cheekpieces or a visor in all seven starts since last July; no headgear today (five).

The jockey has only ever had one ride, a loser (six), and Speed Check has only ever won left-handed; his form on a right-hand track is 0-3 (that’s the seven).
