THAT 4,000! IT’S THE REAL McCOY TODAY: Daqman moves in on the two Tony McCoy mounts at Towcester today at BETDAQ-value morning offers, but needs a Penny saver and a 24.0 outsider as alternatives. Just one winner will land the champion jockey his 4,000.

Today’s the day for Tony McCoy and Betdaq value. His two mounts at Towcester which would get him past the 4,000 (he’s currently on 3,999) are fair offers on the Daq this morning but punter support could see them much shorter.

That particularly applies to his second ride, Mountain Tunes. If Church Field has put him on the 4,000, there’ll be a mountain of money for that one. Get on both.. early!

2.10 Towcester: McCoy on Church Field: The stats are on his side in this race. Five-year-olds have won 5 out of 10 and horses rated to carry 11st or above here are 9 out of 10.

Church Field was 1111 until aimed too high (class 2) in September and then failed to cope with Cheltenham last month (that can often be discounted), and he’s only 5lb higher now than when completing the four-timer.

To regard him as being too high in the handicap may be misplaced, particularly as we are talking about a five-year-old (potential for improvement) and he is back in his class today. In fact, a grade lower than for his last win.

Yes, the ratings scale slides horses up and down in grade, according to the weight their current rating gives them in a particular race, but they still have to show ‘class’, the physical constitution and will to win.

The negative for Hollow Penny, Church Field’s nearest rival in the BETDAQ market this morning, is that he has not won right-handed, but he was well backed on his reappearance at Southwell, only to unseat at the first.

Market Option took a long time to hit the mark but is with in-form trainer Venetia Williams. Valid Point has been a shadow of the horse that won three races in 2011 but got this trip well then and all three wins were here at Towcester. Has to bounce back with the stable out of form.

It’s not a great field, even for a class 4, and Church Field (McCoy is 2-2 on him) doesn’t have to be great to win it, but Hollow Penny must be backed, too. I can’t see beyond them, so I’m happy to bet on both to a diminished return.

3.10 Towcester: McCoy on Mountain Tunes: This is another two-horse race on the morning market, with Mountain Tunes rivaled only by Prideofthecastle in the BETDAQ betting.

But here we’re talking about novices – they could show any amount of improvement, or fall away from their early form – and we’re asking them to climb that formidable Towcester hill as a finale to 2m 5f, mainly on the turn.

Mountain Tunes has won a 3m point-to-point, while we have to take 2m bumper winner Prideofthecastle’s stamina on trust, but a bet on Mountain Tunes is in the hope that there’s nothing ‘hidden’ in a race like this.

Kris Spin is a £52,000 buy with form in a testing contest, while Premier Portrait could improve but has to, carrying a penalty.

Walk On Al is interesting.

So, too, the experienced Westaway (offers of 24.0 on BETDAQ, as I write) for David Arbuthnot, who is 5 out of 9 on this track in recent years and his two runners in the last fortnight have finished first and second at a big price.

3.30 Musselburgh Gillian Callaghan is 3-6 with her raiders from Ireland and Easy Reach looks big this morning (offers of 12.5 on BETDAQ, at the time of writing).

6.20 Wolverhampton There’s a strong word for History Book here, and he could start odds on, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa, who landed the first four winners on the BETDAQ card at Kempton last night.

He has 12 rides at Wolverhampton over tonight and tomorrow night before choosing from 11 possibles on the final day of the Flat Doncaster on Saturday.
