THURLES ON THURSDAY: The big race is the John Meagher Memorial Chase (Listed) and SHAMROCK is against the favourite Realt Dubh.
The going at Thurles is good (chase) and good, good to yielding in places (hurdle).
Feature race is the John Meagher Memorial Chase and sees the clash of multiple Grade One winners Realt Dubh and Quito De La Roque.
Realt Dubh is the current 2.28 favourite on BETDAQ but I am not keen on him at that price.
His trainer Noel Meade is hardly over-bubbling with enthusiasm.
He said: “The conditions of the race suit him and he seems well. But it’s his first run of the season and I’d like to see some rain for him.”
Realt Dubh has been off the course since February and his five rivals all enjoy a fitness edge with recent runs.
Chances are that Realt Dubh is likely to need the race and for me he is a lay at current odds.
Point winner Wrath Of Titans ran a cracker on his debut under Rules when second to Moyle Park at Punchestown and should have far too much clash for his rivals in the closing bumper.
