DREAM WINNER MAKES A PROFIT: Daqman shaded a profit yesterday with a winner (Nogo’s Dream WON 9-5) and two seconds, including his nap.
BIG BETDAQ OFFERS AT NEWBURY: Bets at 27.0, 11.0 and 9.8 tonight at Newbury but first a form horse for an in-form trainer at Beverley.
HE’S OUT ON HIS OWEN..
⭕ 3.45 Beverley Newmarket trainer James Owen has a 50% strike rate at Beverley and his five-year-old Gincident has a 100% place record in six runs (two wins) since joining the yard from Richard Fahey in April.
His last race was probably his best yet. Though drawn on the outer at York, he was beaten three lengths, giving 11lb to the winner in a field of 20.
Today’s rivals are class-5-only winners or, like Shimmering Sands, without success for at least two years.
The exception is Flickering Halo, who won a class 5 over today’s CD last May but scored a grade higher on AW this May. Since these, his only successes, were one year and nine races apart, hopes cannot be high. Maybe next May..
SPECULATIVE BETDAQ 27.0
⭕ 6.45 Newbury Orion’s Belt was a let-down for the Hannons nine days ago when only fourth as the odds-on favourite in a race celebrating Richard Hannon senior’s 80th birthday.
The winner was trained by Tom Dascombe, who now saddles Speculative, a Wootton Bassett related to 7f winners. Betdaq Betting Exchange 27.0 offers (4.1 a place)
Kaori also catches the eye, as a Dubawi out of a Shamardal mare, with 2yo debut scorers in the close family. BETDAQ 11.0 taken.
LAYS LOGIC: John and Thady Gosden two-year-olds have been well behind, the stable’s turf score this year 1-10.
They’ve had two AW juvenile winners (2-2), including Miss Honey two weeks back, but third and fourth have both been well beaten before and after that race, which was at Kempton.
UBIQUITOUS MR EUSTACE
⭕ 7.45 Newbury Harry Eustace winners are ubiquitous, not only in Group-1s at Royal Ascot!
Just before Harry’s Queen Anne and Commonwealth Cup double last week, Mr Ubiquitous won an apprentice handicap at Salisbury for Jack Nicholls.
It was a good test for the 7lb claimer (no whips could be used), and the improving three-year-old will carry just 4lb more than for the first of three wins out of four since April.
Adelaide Bay is also 3-4 but on AW and he was beaten a total of 35 lengths in two attempts on turf.
Cheekpieces helped This Farh to return to form the last day (holds Tolerance) but his success has been at Lingfield only (2-3). Iconnic has won only at 6f on soft.
Richard Newland has trained four winners in five days’ recent racing but Graduated has won only her maiden, and was beaten favourite last time out. Both bad signs.
BIG VALUE BUICK BET
⭕ 8.15 Newbury Nine-times AW winner Follow Your Heart is 11lb lower on turf: no wonder he could dominate at Doncaster last week! William Buick booked yet the combination was 9.8 on BETDAQ this morning, even after the withdrawal of Marley Park.
