The jumps season continues hot up but the flat meetings rule today with cards at Lingfield, Kempton and Dundalk. My main bets today are in the BETDAQ sponsored races at Kempton but first a word on the jumps cards at Bangor and Exeter where there is expected to be soft ground at both venues.

At Exeter Smad Place is on a recovery mission having been a most unfortunate loser on his chasing debut at Huntingdon when six lengths clear at the last before unseating his rider.

He was a 1/2 favourite that day and will be even shorter today and is a mile clear on his hurdles form. Despite the unseat he jumped well mainly and Alan King’s runner remains an interesting recruit to the chasing game but can hardly be backed at prohibitive odds today.

King could well complete a double through Valdez in the beginers chase at 2.40. This one rounded off last season with a good second over hurdles at Cheltenham and is officially rated the best horse here.

AP McCoy is getting closer to the 5,000 winners !!! His best chance today at Bangor should be with the hat-trick seeking Irish Cavalier in the 2.20. He has won his latest races at Worcester and Stratford with ease and further improvement and wins and very likely.

4.50 Kempton (Betdaq – The Sports Betting Exchange Handicap) The youngsters dominate this, as ever at this time of year: no horse over the age of four has won since the race’s inception in 2009: it’s 3yo 2, 4yo 2.

Last year’s winner, Ubetterbegood, hasn’t scored since but drops back to class 3 for the first time and has jockey find of the year Oisin Murphy claiming 5lb.

Also dropping back a grade is Secret Look, a winner at Newmarket at this level in the summer, while a Perfect Pasture five-timer depends on him leaping two grades and taking on board a 10lb hike in the weights at the same time.

Ubetterbegood’s trainer Robert Cowell also runs Prohibit and the Wolverhampton winner, Silken Express, who is hooded for the first time. Silken also fits the stats, being a four-year-old and is preferred from Cowell’s three runners. It would take a huge leap of faith to believe Ubetterbegood is anything like the horse he was last year given his recent wretched runs.

5.20 Kempton (Winners Are Welcome At Betdaq Maiden Stakes) The usual Kempton maiden mix of experience v debutants and as ever the market clues will be of interest. Morning favourite is the Godolphin debutant Furas, a son of Shamardal.

Cincuenta Pasos ran a belter here at 25/1 on debut when third to You’re Fired beaten just a nose and a head. That looks more encouraging than Richard Hannon’s Conflicting who was second on debut at Nottingham. Hannon’s is shorter in the betting but the form of Cincuenta Pasos looks better. Swap the trainers and also swap the prices.

7.00 Kempton (Betdaq 1st UK Race Commission Free Nursery Handicap) This looks a 5/1 the field race if ever I saw one but it’s the place market that appeals for me and a sneaky place bet on Jarlath who didn’t show much in three maidens (including on Polytrack at Lingfield) but was a much more encouraging course and distance third last time out at 33/1. He probably needs to imporve again to be competitive here but there’s every chance of that happening.

7.30 Kempton (£500 Free Bets At Betdaq Conditions Stakes) Looks trappy but Godolphin’s I’m Back can trap like a greyhound and could prove hard to peg back. He made all to win over a mile when last seen here and has since been racing in Meydan.
