TWO MORE FOR DAQMAN BUT NAPS SEQUENCE STAYS 5 OUT OF 6: After five winning naps out of six, Daqman landed two more winners yesterday, one at Dieppe on the Flat, one at Pau over the sticks, but this time he picked the wrong one for his nap. The winners were:

WON 53-10 BAXTER DU BERLAIS
WON 2-1 DALVINI

IT’S BACK TO THE FUTURE WITH A CLASSIC SEASON CONCERTINA: As we come to the final days of minor meetings in France, we can look forward – as we did before the lockdown – to a series of Classic races, now collectively a concertina, with three on Monday alone. Follow Daqman’s previews.

Today’s headlines:
🔹  BACK TO THE FUTURE: 2020 VISION
🔹  BOUDOT 19 UP AND SET FOR MORE
🔹  15.0 CASTLE TO ROOK THE LAYERS
🔹  COURTING AXELLE FOR 17.0 STRIKE

BACK TO THE FUTURE: 2020 VISION

Remember Daqman’s 2020 vision? It turns out he was looking through a glass darkly. But he plans to begin again and have the compressed Flat season follow on his amazing record of winners, with the constant search for value on BETDAQ, with horses to follow and with big-race ABC analysis. Here’s just the first few days!

TOMORROW: The way we were: Daqman’s records.
FRIDAY: How to get value for money when racing returns.
SATURDAY: Fortune Cookies: Classic picks for four countries.
SUNDAY: Grand Prix de Chantilly and Prix du Gros-Chene
MONDAY (England): English racing returns at Newcastle.
MONDAY (France): French 2,000 Guineas and 1,000 Guineas.
MONDAY (Germany): German 2,000 Guineas.

BOUDOT 19 UP AND SET FOR MORE

⚠️ LEADING FRENCH (FLAT) TRAINERS: Jean-Claude Rouget 32; Christophe Escuder, Christophe Ferland and Frederic Rossi all on 24; Fabrice Vermeulen 23, Jerome Reynier 20, Francis-Henri Graffard and Henri-Alex Pantall on 19.

⚠️ JOCKEYS: Pierre-Charles Boudot 64, Maxime Guyon 45, Christophe Soumillon 45, Cristian Demuro 31, Anthony Crastus 29, Eddy Hardouin 27, Julien Auge 25, Delphine Santiago 20.

11.40 Vichy Hey! Look who’s here! The 53-year-old veteran Gerald Mosse, who usually rides now for a retained stable in Italy, has four mounts at Vichy today including one for Vicki Haigh, who now trains in France at Maisons-Laffitte.

Mosse opens in this fillies’ claimer on Makototonbokiri (BETDAQ 7.5 this morning). Can the old master get one into the frame against the modern artist in the saddle, Pierre-Charles Boudot?

Boudot’s mount, Ossun Set (a fraction better than evens on BETDAQ), is gradually getting nearer the winner’s enclosure for Andrea Marcialis, who has trained eight winners in the last two weeks.

12.10 Vichy Boudot’s nearest rival, Maxime Guyon, has slipped 19 behind. He’s had nine winners in a fortnight but Boudot has landed a stunning 23.

Without the shadow of Boudot, Guyon is your guy in this one on Terre De France, who will appreciate the soft ground and the return to claiming class. Another a shade better than evens on BETDAQ early mouse.

15.0 CASTLE TO ROOK THE LAYERS

12.50 Vichy A decent prize for this sprint so it’s attracted 15 runners. The 19-year-old Alexis Pouchin stole the 5f race from a similar field at last week’s Vichy meeting.

A high draw is helpful in big fields and he is in stall 16; you can’t get higher than that on 15.0 BETDAQ outsider Ross Castle, who has won over 5f, 6f and 7f, including for Pouchin.

Boudot rides Muttrah Fort (8.0 on BETDAQ) out of gate 13 but the early money last night was for Orangefield (20-1 into 10-1 and this morning 15.0 in to 11.0 on BETDAQ), Maxime Guyon riding for Mathieu Boutin.

There was just a short-neck between Orangefield and Muttrah Fort on softish ground at Longchamp last Spring at the same weights difference as in this handicap today.

Orangefield has won 11 times (to Muttrah Fort’s three) and is one of only two CD winners in the race. The drawback? There’s one literally, a low stall. Plus the fact that Guyon has ridden him 11 times without success.

The other CD scorer, Nadeem Alward, is drawn low. Slickteg is high but badly handicapped with the placed horses behind him – Soho Starlight and Kilrush Memories – at Fontainebleau in November.

1.25 Vichy Andre Fabre hit a winning streak at the weekend (11110001 in two days) and Thesee, a son of Acclamation, might be good enough first time. Thesee is Fabre’s only runner here today.

2.00 Vichy Yet another maiden – there will be scores of them in the early days of the resumption in England (can’t wait) – and yet another clash of Boudot (Anfrati) and Guyon (Incendiere), with those two and Calypso Rose the three in the race with experience.

Hard to call, which is why there were just 2.25 points separating the four at the front of the BETDAQ market this morning.

2.35 Vichy Another sprint, another big chance for Boudot, riding On The Edge for Marcialis: 3.75 on BETDAQ.

COURTING AXELLE FOR 17.0 STRIKE

3.10 Vichy Another sprint (I’m sorry; I’ll read that again), and they don’t get any easier with no fewer than five CD winners in this one.

Maybe 21-year-old Axelle Nicco can make the difference with her 7lb claim on Glicourt . She had a winner here at 40-1 just 10 days ago. This one was 17.0 this morning.

⭕ 4.55 Vichy More maidens but finally this stakes race, in which Francis-Henri Graffard (striking at 33%) gives his Sea The Stars filly Bergamasque a chance to show what the shouting is about.

Bergamasque, out of a Giants Causeway mare, beat nothing well at Longchamp last June but was said to need time.

There were good reports of her before racing was so rudely interrupted, and the man o’magic, Pierre-Charles Boudot, will ride. I expect the 5.0 on BETDAQ to disappear. Back and lay?

Golden Box (Gerald Mosse) was 2.75 favourite this morning. She ran in the Pattern last year but her best form, second to Muette in September, has been let down badly by those around her at the finish, including Muette at Deauville last week.

Ficelle Du Houley stuck her neck out at Deauville but the runner-up was beaten back there next time. The third had taken form figures to the race of 0200000 since 2018.
