EMMET RYAN LOOKS AT THE THREE BIG GAMES THIS WEEKEND: After some stonkingly good games in Europe midweek it’s back to business in the English Premier League this weekend. Let’s find some EPL betting winners.

We begin with the absolute whopper in St Mary’s on Super Sunday as Southampton host Liverpool in a game with massive Champions League implications. The numbers freaks, who are my people, have long maintained that even allowing for the expected fall-off it’s more than likely Southampton finish in the top four. It would take something strange, something a little bit crazy, to break those projections. Something like, say, the type of run Liverpool had in the second half of last season.

On Sunday the Reds come in with the band in tune. Yes, they were dreadful up until the middle of December. Yes, they still look far from a crack outfit. And, yes, they aren’t as talented as the Suarez fuelled machine that nearly brought the title back to Anfield. What they are however is a team in a good place. Liverpool are winning and they’ve kept winning since that awful thumping at the hands of Man United. I like the Saints most days, I defend them to bettors nearly every week. This week, I’m off the bus. Bet on Liverpool to take the win at 2.98.

Switching back to Saturday’s action and Swansea host Man United in a particularly tasty clash. Louis van Gaal is a man who can’t get any love. He is accused of being too open, too conservative, and too not somebody else all at the same time. I’m not saying I want to go for beers with him but the guy has been there and done that more than anybody else and this is a rebuilding job. United may not be the easiest team to trust right now but they have quite a few old scores to settle with Swansea. I like the visitors big time here. Bet on Man United at 2.04 to win.

Finally, we can’t preview a game in February without talking about Arsenal. The congestion is right around the corner. You can taste the pain that is coming the Gunners way. It’s going to hurt but it’s not quite time yet to freak out over players getting worn out. Alan Pardew may be the greatest enemy of bettors on the planet, he sure isn’t a family favourite around at Tipster HQ, but I don’t see him pulling the upset here. Bet on Arsenal/Arsenal on the Half-time/Full-time at 2.92.
