THREE OUT OF THREE FOR CUP KING EMMET RYAN: It was a midweek to remember when Emmet Ryan gave three out of three in his midweek column. LIVERPOOL (2.06), SPURS (1.88) and CHELSEA/CHELSEA 2.28)

EPL Betting Preview

By Emmet Ryan

Everybody bring it in, it’s time to ride this train of winners into Christmas. After a perfect showing, going 3 for 3 in the Capital One Cup, it’s time to keep the winners coming with this weekend’s stellar line-up in English Premier League betting.

LIVERPOOL v ARSENAL

We kick off with a rivalry defined by one late late goal 25 years ago. Liverpool host Arsenal in a game where both managers are worried about their job security. Brendan Rodgers silenced the critics oh so briefly with a dominant display against Bournemouth on Wednesday. There was lots of talk about Liverpool adjusting its formation but in spite of the switches and the big win, there’s no escaping one key point: It was Bournemouth. This Sunday it’s Arsenal and the Gunners have everything going for them here.

Arsene Wenger knows he needs to come big over the next two months to remain at the helm after this season. Anfield on Sunday could be a signature moment for the Arsenal boss. Last season, you may just recall, Liverpool took Arsenal to the cleaners in this fixture and the Gunners want payback. They come into this game on 8 days rest and plenty of time to think about what they want to do when they hit the park at 4pm. There’s only one possible result I’m backing here. Bet on Arsenal at 2.64 to take all three points.

MAN CITY v CRYSTAL PALACE

The early game on Saturday has seen a lot of early action and it’s all going on Man City to win outright. The reigning EPL champions are unbackable favourites to win against Crystal Palace on Saturday morning and rightly so. With the outright essentially out of the running, we’ve got to look elsewhere for the value pick. In-running betting promises to be hot. If City don’t score in the first 25 minutes, look for the outright to stretch into a more favourable position but if you are going early, there’s still some value. The bet to take is City as -1.5/2 favourites on the Asian handicap at 2.24

NEWCASTLE v SUNDERLAND

Finally we turn our attention to the Tyne-Wear derby where Newcastle will look to tear Sunderland apart on Sunday. The goalkeeper crisis for Alan Pardew’s charges is a big concern but not enough to shake my belief that they will make light work of their arch-rivals in this one. Fortunately the market disagrees slightly and that has put the outright in play. Trust Newcastle to take care of business at 2.1
