SCOTTISH FOOTBALL AT CHRISTMAS: Amid all the madness of the Football and Horse Racing that takes place over Christmas, there are also some decent Scottish Premier League Games to keep the festivities going through to Saturday. Emmet Ryan previews some of the major games on the agenda.

There’s a lot of time to kill this week and you can only sit through Harry Potter so many times. With the EPL only helping stave off the monotony on Friday, I’ve picked the best bets from up north to keep you going through the weekend.

Considering just how much they have going for them over everyone else in the Scottish Premiership, you would think Celtic would be strolling to the title by now. Unfortunately for the Glasgow giants, for all their strength off the field they aren’t far removed from the chasing pack on the park. There are however a few notable exceptions in that regard and Dingwall’s finest, Ross County, certainly fit that bill.

Assuming you consider the outright of 1.16 to be something best avoided, it’s worth looking at the alternative markets to find some actual value in Saturday’s clash. The Asian Handicap of -2/2.5 looks a touch steep for most soccer bettors but I like it this weekend. Celtic need a big win to carry them into the new year and Ross County are shipping over two goals a game as it is. For once, it’s time to trust Celtic to deliver.

Will Super Caley go ballistic? Nope because Aberdeen are anything but atrocious. Having stuttered a little to begin the season, the team Run by DMc has been on fire of late to sit just four points behind league-leading Celtic at Christmas. The Dons have eyes on retaining their League Cup crown in the new year but right now it’s all about taking care of business away to Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Caley have performed well this season but the Dons are hot and have the talent advantage. Play it smart here and trust Aberdeen to take care of business at the excellent price of 2.48.

Finally we turn our gaze to an absolute massive game in Perth, and I don’t mean the lovely sunny spot in Western Australia. Dundee United are level with Aberdeen on 34 points and still have Celtic in their sights but they have blown hot and cold in recent weeks. Now is the time to see what they are really made of. On Saturday they take on a St. Johnstone team that still harbours European ambitions but needs to get a big result soon to stay in contention. The men of McDiarmid Park are underdogs at home today but I like them to get their fifth win on the bounce. Back St. Johnstone at 3.15.
