JONATHAN HOBBS: Greyhound racing’s busy period continues with the heats of two major competitions at Hove tonight live on SportyStuffTV/RPGTV.

The Coral Regency and Coral Sussex Cup are both Cat One competitions and have attracted top-class entries which keeps the bandwagon rolling after last week’s Derby extravaganza at Towcester.

Lots of Towcester and Derby form is looking to be upheld with the likes of track record breakers Bockos Belly and Kishlawn Shakira on the card, as well as Derby second Kilara Lion and the Greyhound of the Year Aayamza Royale.

Let’s have a look at a stunning card.

Hove

6.09: Ballynabee Lucky has developed into a solid four-bend performer, handling stiffer trips. However the speed which saw him make his name at Romford and Crayford can see him lead this heat one of the Sussex Cup. Newcomer Antigua Storm is respected here.

Play: Ballynabee Lucky

6.28: Skilful Daisy could be drawn for a decent run here. She remains lightly raced but has proved effective from the red jacket and could relish the Hove gallop. Burgess Puma looks a live danger, but a midfield pitch needs handling by this bang railer.

Play: Skilful Daisy

6.43: Bockos Belly looked a touch unlucky not to make the Derby final. He remains a powerful sort, with a new track record at Towcester underlining his class and, although Seomra Razl starts well next door, a tow round behind could set things up for the red.

Play: Bockos Belly

6.58: Like Bockos Belly, Kishlawn Shakira set a new track record at Towcester, this time over 712m. She proved able to win from off the front or from behind and a perfect slot inside and be taken advantage of. Kid Haaland looks a prospect lady to improve for this.

Play: Kishlawn Shakira

7.18: Kilara Lion ran-up in the Derby last week and remains one of the most popular runners in training. A bullet break did the trick at Towcester and a lead here looks on the cards, with the likes of Droopys Addition and Newinn Jacko threats if turning handy.

Play: Kilara Lion

7.36: Back to the six-bend trip for the Regency and Blue Tick George gets the vote over Ayamza Royale in a superb clash. The former won the Yarmouth St Leger and goes well off the front if breaking well inside, although we know stripes will not be stopping in behind!

Play: Blue Tick George

7.56: Roxholme Sheikh looked unlucky at Towcester during the Derby but can bounce back here in the Sussex Cup. Trials at Monmore have been smart and a lead looks on the cards down the middle. Ballynabee Jet could turn in a pitch from a decent draw.

Play: Roxholme Sheikh

8.17: Alaskan Dawn gets a confident vote in this heat four of the Regency. The red-jacketed runner trialled well and given plenty of four-bend speed should soon be in contention from a plum pitch inside. He looked a touch unlucky at Crayford.

Play: Alaskan Dawn

8.38: Another Sussex Cup heat and another trap one runner Tenpin could take some holding if trapping smartly. He trialled well over the sprint and starts and stays well enough to make hay over this stiff four bends. Towcester clearly did not suit – Hove should.

Play: Tenpin

8.54: Back to the Regency now and Bo Shine Bullet made it third time lucky in a Cat One when winning the Kent St Leger at Crayford. Her trial here over four bends was decent and chance are she’s still improving. Take Slippy Mick for the forecast given he stays well.

Play: Bo Shine Bullet

9.12: Dannid returned to the track in good style last week. Her draw is perfect outside and timewise a 30.19sec last week gives her every chance – especially with improvement likely. Bubbly Bollinger won well at Towcester last week and looks well drawn inside.

Play: Dannid

9.28: Cold As Ice is a strong-running sort who ran a great Derby campaign. He’s a track record-breaking runner over six bends at Newcastle and that sort of form catches the eye in the finale, with improvement expected on his recent trial.

Play: Cold As Ice

Good luck all.
